M. T. BASINGER PAPER DQLL Filed March 5, 1926 INVENTOR ATTORNEY Patented Mar. 15 1927.
FHCE;
MAT'IIE THAYER BASINGER, OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI;
PAPER DOLL.
Application filed March 5, 1926. Serial No. 92,454.
My invention relates to paper dolls, and
more particularly to that type of doll comprising a body blank to which various articles of clothing may be reinovably and selec- 5 tively applied, the principal object of the invention being to provide a fastening whereby the articles of dress or clothing may be easily and quickly attached to and removed from the body blank, and which will securely hold the article of dress to the body when it is applied thereto.
In accomplishing this object- I have provided improved details of structure, the preferred form of which is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Fig. 1 is a front view of a body blank and a dress, provided with fastening means in accordance with my invention, the figures be- 7 ing in slight perspective to better illustrate the relation of the fastening members.
Fig. 2 is a similar view, showing the dress applied to the body blank.
Fig. 3 is a rear view of the same.
Fig. l is a vertical section of the body and dress, on a line running through the fastening members.
Referring more in detail to the drawings:
1 designates a body blank, preferably out or stamped from celluloid or relatively stiff ardboard to outline the body, limbs and features of a child or person, and upon which facial features and conventional articles of clothing may be painted or otherwise impressed, the body part being slitto provide a triangular tongue 2 and aperture 3. The slit is preferably made near the upper, central part of the body with the tongue pointed downwardly, although location, form and arrangement of the slit may be varied without departing from the spirit of the invention.
4 designates a dress or other article of clothing or adornment such as negligee, apron, dress or gown, shaped and printed to lit and harmonize with the body blank 1, and having a'triangular slit 5 and tongue 6 corresponding in location, shape and size with the slit and tongue of the body member, but
arranged reversely thereto so'that when the dress or like member is applied to the body blank, with the point of the tongue of the I dress member located below the point of the tongue of the body member and the members slipped along each other, the tongue of'one may enterthe recess beneath the tongue of the other and pass along the opposite face thereof. I
Originally it will be necessary to press the tongue of each member out of its recess to permit-the other tongue to enter, but after a few manipulations the tongue will remain open sufiiciently to eflect the interlock, while I retaining sufiicient elasticity to exert the pressure necessary for holding the members in assembled relation.
It is apparent that with the body and dress blanks equipped with fastenings of this construction, changes in attire may be easily' and quickly made, that the fastening being wvithout sharp crease lines is fairly rugged u MATTIE THAYER BASINGER.
