I POWDER PUFF.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, CHARLES T. BOYD and GEORGE S. HERSHEY, citizens of the United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Powder Puffs, of which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is to provide a compact and convenient device for containing the usual implements and cosmetics or materials for beautifying the complexion. The. invention is embodied in the example herein shown and described, the features of novelty being finally claimed.

In the views the powder pufi comprises a magazine or chamber 7 of sheet metal provided with a suitable powder distributing member 8 of fabric such as shown, for example, in our Letters Patent of the United States No. 1,453,038 dated April 24, 1923. In the present instance the magazine 7 is formed with an annular flange or rib 9 projecting therefrom. In the present instance, also, the bottom of the magazine is provided with a cavity formed by depressing the metal thereof to receive a rouge puff or applicator. The rouge applicator consists of a metallic chamber 10 having a distributer 11 of fabric, a hinged piece 12 being provided by means of which the rouge puff can be easily manipulated. In the bottom of the rouge magazine is depressed an elongated cavity 13 to receive a small lip stick or other crayon 14L suitable for treating the face or parts thereof. The bottom of the rouge magazine is shown as having pivoted to it a cover 15 for the lip-stick receptacle and the bottom of the receptacle is shown as provided with a spring 16 for elevating one end of the stick from its seat when the cover 14 is turned aside so that the stick can be conveniently removed with the fingers.

1'? and 18 designate the box and cover therefor, respectively, for inclosing and containing the parts previously described when they are assembled. The box 17 and cover 18 are hinged together by hinge 19 in such manner that when placed in parallel relation a space of equal width at all points occurs and between the edges of the box and cover so that when the assembled parts, as shown in Fig. 5, are placed in the box part andthe cover closed the edges of each of the parts fit evenly on opposite sides of the flange or rib of the powder puff magazine. It will be noted that when the cover 18 is opened the flange 9 permits the easy grasping and removal of the puff. The inner side of the cover 18 is shown as provided with a small mirror 20 to aid the user in satisfactorily applying the cosmetics.

The powder magazine should fit in the box with a neat fit and the rouge magazine should fit in its receptacle with a good friction fit or by means of any other suitable connection adapted to prevent its accidental escape. It will be observed that our construction secures great compactness of the outfit and that such outfit can be conveniently carried in a pocket, wallet or hand bag-without danger of the scattering of the parts or materials.

The forms of the parts can be changed without departing from the invention as claimed. I

What we claim is:

1. A toilet article comprising, in combination, a powder magazine comprised of a base of stiff material and an applicator for the powder attached thereto, said magazine having a cavity in its bottom, a rouge magazine comprised of a base of stilf ma terial and an applicator attached thereto, said rouge magazine fitting in said cavity of the powder magazine.

2. A toilet article comprising, in combination, a powder puff having a magazine provided with a; cavity in its bottom, a rouge puff fitting in said cavity, said rouge puff provided with a depression in its bottom to receive a crayon, and a swinging cover for said depression.

3. A powder puff having a magazine provided with a cavity in its bottom, a rouge pufi fitting in said cavity said rouge pufi provided with a depression in its bot- .tom to receive a crayon, and, means for bination, a powder puff having a magazine provided; wvith a cavity "in, its bottom, a rouge puff fitting in said cavity, said rouge puff provided with a depression in its bottom to receive a crayon, a swinging cover for said depression, and a spring in said depression to projeot the crayon for apprehension when the cover is swung from crayon-confining position over the depression.
