Description

Jan. 6- 1925- 1,521,908
w. J. SCHUSTER TOOL GUIDE Filed Oct. 11, 1923 INYENTOR BY I ' ATTORNEY Patented Jan. 6, 1925.
UNITED FFICE.
PATEN Application filed October 11, 1923.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, XVILLIAM JOHN SoHUs'rnn, a citizen of United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State. oi New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tool Guides, of which the following is a. specification.
This invention relates to improvements in devices for cutting triangularly cross-sectioned fillets or strips and has as one of its objects to provide means for supporting a pliable fillet while being cut.
Another feature is in the provision of a device by which the ends of such fillet strip can be cut at an angle to form mitered joints at the corners of a rectangular frame.
A. further purpose is to produce a simple device for this purpose, means being pro vided to secure the fillet therein to prevent slipping during the cutting operation.
These objects are attained by the novel construction and arrangen'ient of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of a cutter guide in one position.
l igure 2 is a similar view of the same in another position.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Figure 1.
In the drawing, the numeral 5 designates a strip of triangular fillet material. presenting a right angled triangle as best shown in Figure 3.
TOOL GUIDE.
Serial No. 667,825.
A triangular tube 6 having a base 7, perpendicular 8 and hypotenuse 9 is shaped to neatly receive the fillet slidably therein, the ends of the tube being shaped to produce an angle of forty-five degrees from the perpendicular 8, these ends acting to guide a cutter or knife when shearing the fillet strip in an obvious mannenacting as a template.
In order to retain the fillet strip from moving in the tube, a boss 10 is formed on the hypotenuse or longer side of the tube, the boss being drilled and tapped to receive a clamp screw 11, the point of which impinges upon the fillet as indicated.
Having thus described my invention. what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 1- l. A template for cutting miters on soil fillet material in triangular strip form, consisting of a triangular tube having unbroken walls through which the fillet strip may be passed, said tube, having an end shaped at the required angle and adapted to guide a knife in cutting the fillet.
2. A template for cutting fillet material in triangular strips, comprising a tube adapted to closely receive and support the strip entered therein, said tube having one end bevelled in conformity with the angle the fillet is to be cut, and a thumb screw adapted to impinge upon one side of the fillet for securing said tube adjusta-bly on the fillet.
In witness whereof I. have affixed my signature. i
WILLIAM JOHN SCHUSTER.
