WILLIAM GRIESBACH, OF GREENFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS.
HOLDER FOR ERICE TAGS.
'application med February i2, 1924,. serial No. 692,361.
To all 'whom it may concern.' A
Be it known that I, IVILLIAM GninsAoH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Greeniield, in the county of Franklin and Sta-te of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Holders for Price Tags, of which the following is a specification. 1
This invention relates to improvements in holders for price tags for suitably marking `or indicating' the price of commodities of. various kinds in stores, particularly 1n stores containing groceries. Au object of the invention is to provide a device for permitting the insertion and removal of the price ticket or tag, without disturbing the contents of a package or those on a shelf. It is designed to be attached to the shelf on which the goods are displayed or placed in a carton 0r receptacle.
Broadly, it comprises a member consisting of ay strip ot metal which is formed on its opposite edges with bent over portions to provide channel ways so that the tag or ticket may be readily moved longitudinally after being inserted, or if desired it may be reversed to indicate a different price on its reverse side.
Referring to the drawings:
F l is a perspective view of the holder showing a port-ion of a shelf on which the goods are displayed or located, and illustrating the device attached to the edge of the shelf.
Fig. 2 is a detail view, partly in section, showing the holder removed from the shelf and illustrating the opening in the upper edge of the device for the insertion of the price tag or ticket.
Fig. 3 is a perspectiveview of a modifica tiou of the holder, and
Fig. d is topvplan view of Fig.
Referring to the drawings in detail:
l designates a. strip of metal having the bent or folded over upperand lower portions 2 and 3 for forming the channel ways .11 and 5. 6 designates an opening or slot shown. After it is inserted it may be moved longitudinally of the holder l or it may be left in a position immediately below the opening 6 in order to properly designate the price of the article immediately located above the price tag.
Referring to Figs, 3 and .4i which shows a modification, the opening 6 is provided with a. guiding portion or partv 8, which pori tion is formed by bending the removed portion of the partl 2 rearwardly so that the ticket or price tag 7 engages the surface 8 and serves as a guide to assist the user in inserting the price ticket.
It will be seen from this description that I have perfected a very efficient and inex? pensive holder device for price tags or cards indicating the price of articles, and one that permit-s the ready insertion and remo-val of the price tag or card. I-Ieretofore, .it has been a common expedient to tack or nailthe card to the shelf with the result that the shelf is disgured which produces an unsightly appearance.
lWhat I claim is: s,
l.. A holder for price tags con'iprising a member having bent over edges to provide channel portions to receive ay tag, one of the bent over edges having openings therethrough to insert and remove a tag and the opening being provided with a guiding sur# face which is an integra-l part of the bent over edge.
2. A price tag holder comprising a one piece member formed with channel portions to retain a tag in place, said member having bent over upper edge with an opening for inserting a tag, the edge of the opening having a part to guide the tafy when it is being inserted as described.
