RICHARD LACOUR-SE, OF SALT LAKE CTY, Uir, ASSlG-NOR OF ONE-HALF TO JOE DORAN AND ONE-HALF TO CLARENCE R. FULLER. Oi? ANACONDA, MONTANA.
ADJUSTABLE STOVE LINING AND GRATIS.
Application led March 6, 1922.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD LiiooURsE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Salt Lake City, Utah, in the county of Salt Lake and State of Utah, have invented a new and useful Adjustable Stove Lining and Grate, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to grate construe tion` and more particularly to grates especially designed for use in connection with kitchen ranges, the primary object of the invention being to provide an adjustable grate. Another object of the invention is to provide novel means for supporting the grate 15 and lining of a fire-box to permit the lining and grate to be readily and easily applied by persons unfamiliar with mechanics.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made Within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawings 1 Figure 1 is an elevational view of a tirebox lining and grate support constructed in accordance with the present invention, the same being shown as applied.
Figure 2 is a plan View disclosing the outer portion of the grate rest.
Figure 3 is a front elevational view of one section of the device.
Figure 4 is a plan view of the device in an assembled position.
Figure 5 is a sectional view taken on line 5-5 of Figure 4.
Figure 6 is an enlarged detail view of one of the supporting brackets.
Figure 7 is an end elevational view of one of the grate supports.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the device includes a. rear section indicated generally by the reference character 5 which is ,formed with a rear wall 6 adapted to lie in proximity to the inclined wall 7 of the {ire- :30 box of the range. The upper edge of the wall 6 is formed into a supporting flange 7 adapted to rest along the wall 8, forming a part of the oven, of the range.
The rear section 5 also includes right anserial no. 541,423.
gled arms 9 formed integral with the bar 10, which is also formed integral with the wall 6. An arm 11 is also formed integral with the bar 10 and is disposed intermediate the ends thereof for purposes to be hereinafter more fully described. The lire-box section 13 includes a bar 14 formed with right angled arms 15 which have integral laterally extending lugs 12 adapted to receive the arms 9 and 11 of the opposed section to permit of adjustment of one section of the tire-box lining with respect to the opposite section adapting the device for use in tire-boxes of various widths.
Formed in the bar 14 are openings 16 which openings are designed to receive the lower portions of the bracket members 17, which have tapered extremities 18 designed to set up a wedging action between the bar 14 and brackets to insure against the section 13 moving when the same is positioned on the brackets.
The bracket members 17 are formed with right angled extremities 19 adapted to iit over the upper edge of the front Wall 20 of the range to which the device may be applied. The lower portions of the bracket members are adjustably supported in the cut out portions formed in the bar 14. 'As shown, the bar 14 is formed with depending portions 21 which are formed-with elongated openings 22 adapted to register with openings 23 formed in the bracket members 17, to accommodate the bolts 17 that secure the bracket members to the members 21, in various positions of adjustment. It will thus be seen that due to this construction, an adjustment may be made between the bar 14 and bracket members 17 to insure the grate supporting portions of the sections being held in horizontal positions.
lt might also be stated that due to the construction of the opposed section, adjustment of the sections transversely of the fire-box to which the same are applied, may be had.
The reference numeral 23 designates grates, which may be laid on the arms 11, 9, and 15 to support the same in true horizontal. positions.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new ist- An adjustable irebox lining including sections, each of said sections having arms, the arms of one section adapted to cooperate with the arms'o'f the opposite section to assist n adjustably supporting` the sections,
one of sdsections/havingdepending por@ tions formed with' elongated openings, 5 bracket members having openings adapted to regsterfwth the openngsio' the depending portonsof bolts extendingthrough the regsterng openings to Ldjustably support the bracket members with respectfto the sections,
and suppolting means forming a part of one 10 of the sections.
In 'testimony 'that I' claim thef'foregong as my own, I have' hereto axed mjy-signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
RICHARD LACOURSE.
