BRACE FOR EVASHTRAYS.

Be it known that we` CHARLES H. GUNN and JOHN C. Nnwcoire. citizens of the United States, residing` at. Gakland.v conntj1 of Alameda. State of California. have invented certain new and useful Tinprovements in Braces for VVasl'itrays; and we do declare the following' to be a full. clear. and exact description of the same, reference being; had to the accompanying drawings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this applit cation.

This invention relates to improvements in brackets and particularly relates to a brack et for supporting wash trays.

Wash trays are most commonly made up of cement or similar material molded into one member wit-h a center partition dividing the member into two trays. These trays are usually s-imply mounted on two supporting legs and in the present type of plumbing have no brackets or supporting means for securing them to the wall so as to prevent undue movement thereof.

It has been found in practice that as thus unsupported the weight of the water and the various operations carried on in and about the trays during` the washing' operation, is such as to tend to vibrate or move the trays to such a degree that they often fall over or collapse. This condition is not only very disagreeable, but also quite dangerous, in view of the extreme weight of the. trays, which averages about four or tive hundred pounds.

It is therefore the object of our invention to produce a bracket which is adapted to co-operate with the present type of plumbing and to engage the center partition wall of the trays in' such a manner as to hold the trays rigid and immovable so as to obviate the conditions as above enumerated.

A further object of the invention is to produce a simple and inexpensive device and yet one which will be exceedingly effective for the purposes for which it is designed.

These objects we accomplish by means of such structure and relative arrangement of parts as will fully appear by a perusal of the following specification and claims.

In the drawings similar characters of reference indicate corresponding' parts in the several views:

Referring now more particularly to the characters of reference on the drawingsn the numeral 1 designates the trays.y while 2 is the central partition above referred to. In the present type of plumbing the water is lead to a point above the trays through two extended nipples to each of which is connected a valve 4. one for the hot water and one-for the cold. From the valves l pipes 5 lead to a central outlet 6 of the desired type.

`With the old style of phunbino' where a pair of outlet pipes was used for each tray. these pipes would project directly through the back wall of each tray and would form a substantial brace for the same. `With the type of plumbing' above identified, however,

` it will be apparentl that there is no possible way of supporting the trays as in the past. and as already stated, to our knowledge, there has been no other wav provided to take care of this condition. and hence our improved bracket is provided for that purpose.

Our bracket consists essentiallv of a bifurcated yoke 7 adapted to fit, over the center partition .2 and be firmly engaged therewith by means of a set. screw 8. Two upwardly projecting; arms t) are formed on the yoke 'i'. ich arm being` provided with a longitudinal slot 1() and harina its under face provided with serrations 11. Numeral 12 designates adjustable extensions for the arms 9. such extensions havinol serrations 13 on their upper faces elirgaggeable with the serrations 11. Set screws ieextend through the slots 10 and engage the extensions 12 to adjustably connect such extensions with the arms 9.

On the outer ends of the extensions 12 are semi-circular yokes 15 adapted to engage the nipples 3.

In practice, if the trays 1 are set in position and the plumbing installed the yokes 15 are engaged with the nipples 3. Then through the medium of the adjustable arms 9-12 the yoke 7 is fitted in position over the partition 2. The set screws 8 and 14 are then tightened. It will be apparent that the bracket, as thus installed, will suitably brace the trays against both lateral and transverse llU movement, hold then rigidly in place and obviate the difficulties herein first enumerated.

From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that we have produced such a device as substantially fulfills the objects of the invention as set forth herein.

While this specification sets forth in de tail the present and preferred construction of the device, still in practice such deviations from such detail may be resorted to as do not form a departure from the spirit of the invention, as defined by the 'appended claims.

Having thus described our invention what we claim as new and useful and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A bracket comprising a bifurcated yoke, means for fixing the yoke in position, and opposed arms extending outwardly and upwardly from the yoke and provided with engaging means at their outer ends.

2. A bracket comprising` a bifurcated yoke, means for fixing the yoke in position, and ad justable opposed arms ext/ending outwardly and upwardly from the yoke and provided with engaging means at their outer ends.

3. A. bracket comprising a bifur'cated yoke, a set screw threaded through one side of the yoke, opposed arms extending upwardly from the yoke, and engaging means on the outer ends of the arms.
