Description

EN ;I FICE.
RUDOLF VON FROMMER, OF BUDAPEST, HUNG-ARY.
AUTOMATIC FIREAB-JL Application filed August 23, 1921.
To (/ZZ witam it may concer'n:
Be it known that I, RUDOLF voN F ROMMER,
a citizen of Hungary, residing at Budapest, IX, Soroksari ut 158, have invented 5 certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Firearms (for which I have made application for patent in Hungary on February 27th, 1917), of which the following is a specification.
l As is well known it can occur in automatic firearms, that. at one pull at the trigger, unintentionally more than one shot is fired, which, of course, is by no means desired. rlhe explanation is, that when pulling, the marksman accidentally stops after the sear or the trigger lever has the firing component, e. g., the hammer, released already, while the trigger is still engaged, which keeps the hammer in firing position. Naturally, in such a case the hammer can strike once more an-:l thus successively several shots may be unintentionally fired.
rrangements have all been devised to prevent this unintentional, repeated firing, and the present invention has for its object a similar arrangement, which however differs from the known ones by its extraordinary simplicity.
In the drawing herewith, Figs. 1 and 2 are sectional views of an automatic pistol embodying my invention, showing the movable parts in different positions.
The trigq'er 2, pivoted at 1, is provided with a nose 3, which through the hole 4 of 5 the easing 5, bears against the barrel 6.
The latter contains a groove 7 for nose ;3 and the depth of this groove successively decreases towards the muzzle of the barrel.
`When Operating the pistol one pulls the i trigger back, the sear 9 will be released by 'the trigger lever 8 from the span-notch of the hammer 10, and thus the pistol will be fired after which the barrel recoils (Fig. 2). In consequence of the recoil of the barrel serial No. 494,549.
6, the nose 3 will be pressed down and by this the trigger will be moved into its rearward position, even if it should not have been completely moved back yet by the pulling finger, as shown in Fig. 2. Through the backward movement of the trigger, the
rearward end of lever 8 has been completely pushed away from the end of the sear 9, so that the latter will assume a position, in which it will retain the hammer 10 after each shot, thus preventing the unintentional fir 4 ing of a. second shot.
As shown, the trigger lever 8 is pivoted to the trigger 2, so that as the latter is moved back, the lever 8 is rocked about its pivot, so that its free end will be swung away from sear 9.
lr claim as my invention:
1. An automatic fire-arm comprising in combination with the casing, a sliding barrel, a trigger, aV trigger lever operatively connected with said trigger, a sear controlled by said trigger lever, and means on the said barrel and the said trigger whereby upon the recoil of the said sliding barrel said trigger is moved to its extreme rear position, in which position the said sear is disengaged from the said trigger lever.
9-. An automatic fire-arm as set forth in claim 1, comprising a nose provided on the said trigger, and adapted to engage in a cam-groove onthe said sliding barrel.
3. An automatic fire-arm as set forth in claim 1, comprising a nose provided on the said trigger, and adapted to engage in a cam-groove on the said sliding barrel, the said nose extending` through an aperture in the said casing.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
