IMPRGVEMENT IN CARPET-RAG LOOPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l 51,624, dated June 2, 1874"; application filed April 529, 1874.
To all whom 'it may concer/n:
Be it known th at I, FRANKLIN ItowELL, of Vineland, Cumberland county, New Jersey, have invented a Carpet-Rug Loo-per, of which the following is zt specification:
The object of my invention is to tie or join together strips of cloth for the manufacture of rag carpets.
It consists of :t pointed knife, A, the blade of which is troughed or curled, B, below the cutting purt A, and which terminates in E spring-clamp, C.
The use of the point of the knife 'A is to pieree the ends of the strips of cloth when lapped together for tying.
rlhe use of the trough or curl B, below the cutting part, is to open the holes and admit the end of the under strip down through in tying the knot.
The use of the spring-clamp C is to fasten the instrument to the edge of the table by sliding rather than screwing it on.
Vhat I elui 1n as my invention isl. rIhe carpet-rug looper, having its blade provided with the trough B and the pointed knife A, as and for the purpose set forth.
2. In combination with the carpet-rag looper blade, provided with the trough B and the point-ed knife A, the spring-clamp C, es and for the purpose set forth.
