Be it known that I, ERNEST LAEUBLI, a citizen of Switzerland, and a resident of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of l/Visconsin, have invented a new Kand Improved Injector for Oil Engines, of which the following is a full, clear, and
exact description.

The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in internal combustion motors, and it pertains more particularly to oil-burning motors commonly known as Diesel or semi-Diesel type.
It is one of the primary objects of the invention to provide a new and improvedform of nozzle for internal combustion motors of It is a further object of the invention to provide a new and improved form of combustion chamber for motors of this type.
.It is a further objectV of the invention to y provide a nozzle which will permit of the use of fuel oil of the lowest grade in motors of either the two-cycle or four-cycle internal combustion type.
It is a further object of the invention to provide a nozzle for motors of the aforementioned type inwhich a complete con# sumption of the fuel oil is had and a resultant complete combustion is obtained.
vlt is a further object of the invention to construct the nozzle in such a manner that the oil injected thereby ignites' immediately after leaving the nozzle to provide primary ignition, said nozzle storing heat for the purpose of promoting the secondary ignition.
With the above and other objects in view, reference is had to the accompanying draw ings, in which AFigure 1 is a detail sectional view of the upper portion of an internal combustion motor cylinder constructed in accordance with the present invention and showing the induction nozzle in position therein;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail sectional view showing the nozzle in longitudinal section;
Fig. 3 is abottom plan view of the nozzle shown in Figs. 1 and 2;
Fig. 4 is a detail view of the nozzle per se, said nozzle being shown both in plan and in section in this ligure;

Referring to the drawings and more particularly to Figs. 1 to 4, inclusive, the reference character 10 designates the motor cylin der, andll designates the head thereof, the piston of the motor being designated by the reference character 12. rIhe motor headf11 is formed with a globe-shaped chamber 13, and leading from the chamber through the top wall of the head, there is a passage 14, which is adapted to receive an inductor or nozzle15. f l,
Referring to Fig. 2, it will be seen that the nozzle comprises a body portion 16, of a diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the passage 14 heretofore mentioned. Thisbody portion 16 is provided with a flange 17, which is adapted to engage the top face of the head 11 of the motor cylinder, when the body portion 16 of the nozzle is inserted in the passage 14. The body of the nozzle is adapted to be secured in position on the head of the cylinder by a plate, 18, or the like, and said platewis in turnsecured to the head of the vcylinder by cap screws, bolts, or the like, 19.
Extending longitudinally through the body 16 of the nozzle, is a passage 20, and communicating with said passage 20 and leading into the outer end of the body portion 16 of the nozzle is a fuel pipe 21, which fuel pipe is adapted to be connectedto a high pressure oil pump which serves to force the oil through the nozzle 15. The inner end of the body portion 16 of the nozzle is provided with a screw-threaded recess 22, and having threaded engagementy with the screw-threaded recess 22, is a hood member 23. This hood member 23 is cylindrical in form and is provided in its side walls with a plurality of openings 24, preferably circular in form. In the preferred form of the invention the lower end of the` hood member is provided with an elongated slot or passage 25, more clearly shown in Fig. 3.

By passing the opening in cover all other oil particles will be ignited by touching the hot edges ofsaid openingandcause thel secondary ignition andra. complete combustion of the fuel within the. globe-shaped combustion kchamber 13 and...furnish the working pressure on the piston.
ln that form of the invention shown in Figs. 5 and 6, the hood 23 is formed with a centrally disposed circular opening 40 in its bottom wall in lieu of the elongated slot 25 employed in the preferred form of the invention. This circular opening is reinforced by a flange 41, and the openings 24 are likewise reinforced by a flange 45. This flange 45, ,while not shown in 1the preferred form of the invention, is intended to be used in connection. .with the preferred form since it lends strlengtlrto the, body of the hood at the openings 24.
