N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO KOPS BROTHERS, OF NEW YORK,
N. Y., A FIRM.
APPAREL GARMENT.
I Appflication filed November 21, 1922. Serial No. 602,326.
To whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IVALDEMAR Kors, a
citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Manhattan, city, county, and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Apparel Garments, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to an 1mprovement in apparel garments and morev particularly, to that type of apparel garments shown and described in my copending application, Serial No. 554,521, filed April 18, 1922, and in which the garment comprises a bust supporting and confining member, a hip, thigh and abdomen confining and supporting member, together with means for adjusting these members of the garment to position on the body so as to function as a combined undervest, brassiere and corset. In the present instance, however, in addition to these features and functions, one of the members of the garment, preferably the bust supporting and confining member, includes an additional garment in the form of knickerbockers or knickers or drawers attached to and depending from the bust supporting and confining member so as to surround the upper portions of the limbs of the wearer, the garment consequently performing the function of four garments instead of three, namely an undervest, bust supporter or brassiere, corset and drawers, and the garment made in accordance with my present invention will be hereinafter more particularly described in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which,
Fig. 1 is a perspective view illustrating the use of the garment made in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan illustrating the parts of the garment in an extended or fiat position, and
Fig. 3 is an enlarged front elevation showing the position of the parts of the garment as assumed in use on the body of the wearer.
Referring to the drawing and particularly to Fig. 2, it will be seen that the hip, thigh and abdominal confining and supporting member which may be made of any suitable material is preferably so constructed as to include back sections 10 and 11, side sections 12 and 13 and front sections 14 and 15. The back sections 10 and 11 are connected along a line of stitching 16, the back section 10 is connected to the side section 12 along a line of stitching 17, the back section 11 is connected to the sidesection 13 along a line of stitching 18 and the side section 12 is connected to the front section 14 along a line of stitching 19, while the front section 15 is connected to the side section 13 along a line of stitching 20. The front edge of the section 14 is provided with a reinforcing strip 21 in which there is a series of eyelets 22, and similarly the front edge of the section 15 is provided with a reinforcing strip 23 in. which there is a corresponding series of eyelets 24. Depending from the lower edge thereof this member is also preferably provided with suitable hose supporters indicated at 25, 26, 27 and 28. In the use of the garment this member extends from the back to the front and the parts are connected and adjusted to-position by means of a lace 28 threaded through eyelets 22 and 24, withthe upper front portions of this member of the garments overlying the lower front portions of the bust, confining and supporting member, and also the upper portions of the body of the drawers or knickers attached to the bust confining and supporting member as hereinafter described.
Also by reference to this figure of the drawing it will be seen that the bust confining and supporting member is preferably so constructed as to comprise a front section 29, side sections and 31 and back sections 32 and 33. The front section 29 is connected to the side section 30 along a line of stitching 34. The front section 29 at the opposite edge thereof isconnected to the side section 31 along a line of stitching 35, while the side section 30 is connected to the back section 32 along a line of stitching 36, and the back section 33 is connected to the side section 31 along a line of stitching 37 At the free end the back section 32 is fitted'with a reinforcing strip 38 to which there are attached suitable hooks 39. At the free end of the back section 33 there is also a reinforcing strip to which at corresponding ends straps 40 are connected. In similar positions in these straps 40 there are eyelets 41 adapted to be engaged by the hooks 39 after this member has been passed around the body from the front to the back to adjust and secure the same in position.
In this garment I also employ 2. drawers or knickerbocker member which is attached I ber preferably at the lower edge thereof so as to depend therefrom. This drawers member preferably includes a body section 42 and leg sections 43 and 44. The body portion of the drawers member is preferably made in two sections 45 and 46 connected along the line of stitching 47 which is centrally disposed, and the upper edges of these sections are connected to the lower edges of the sections of the bust confining and supporting member along the line 48 defining the same. It will be noted, however, that in order to make this member of the garment completely surround the body irrespective of the adjustment of the bust con- 'fining and supporting member the upper edge is extended so as to terminate at the outer end of the adjacent strap, as indicated at 49, to which the hook 39 is secured, while at the opposite side'this member of the garment at the upper edge is also extended so as to terminate at the outer end' of the adjacent strap 40, as indicated at 50, so that when in position irres ective of the adjustment of the bust con ning and supporting member the drawers member at the rear will have overlapping portions at the upper edge thereof, or the upper edge of the drawers member at the rear, as will be. apparent, will at least come together when the outermost eyes 41 in the strap 40 are engaged w th the hooks 39. Also as will be seen by reference to Fig. 3, the lower ends of the leg members of the drawers portion of the garment may be fitted with elastic bands 51 and 52 to cause these portionsof the garment to conform to the lilnbsof the wearer. Still furthermore, as is'customary in this type of garment, the bust confining andsupporting member is preferably connected to the hip, thigh and abdomen confin ng and supporting member by suitable shoulder straps as indicated at 53 and 54.
I claim as my invention:
1. An apparel garment comprising a bust member adapted to extend and to be secured in position on the body of the wearer and having a triangular extension depending from the loweredge thereof, a hip, thigh and abdominal member also adapted to extend around and to be adjusted to position on the body of the wearer, the said members completely covering the body from substantially the bust to the thighs, and a drawers member connected to and depend-- ing fromthe lower edge of the said triangular extension depend ng from the bust memher, the said hip, thigh and abdomen memher being adapted to overlie the lower portions of the bust member and portions of the triangular extension depending therefrom and also portions of the said drawers mem- Y ber.
2. An apparel garment comprising a bust member adapted to extend around and to be angular sections being substantially coex-.
tensive with the said bust member, a hip,
thigh and abdomen member also adapted to extend around the body and to be adjusted to postion thereon, the said members I completely covering the body from substantially the bust to the thighs, and drawers or knicker members connected to and depending from the lower edges of the said triangular sections, the said hip, thigh and abdomen member being adapted to overlie the lower portions of the bust member, to overlie portlons of the said triangular sections, and also to overlie portions of the said drawers or knicker members.
3. An apparel garment comprising a bust member adapted to extend around the body from the front to the back and to be secured in position at the backof the wearer, and having a triangular extension depending from the lower edge thereof, a hip, thigh and abdomen .member adapted to extend around the body from the back to the front and to be adjustably secured atv the front of the body of the wearer, the said members completely coverin the body from substantially the bust to the thighs, and a drawers member connected to and depending from the lower edge of the said triangular extension depending from the bust member, the said hip, thigh and abdomen member being adapted to overlie the lower portions of the bust member and portions of the triangular extension depending therefrom and also portions of the said drawers member.
4. An apparel garment comprising a bust member adapted to extend around the body from the front to the back and to be secured in position at the back of the wearer, triangular sections connected at their adjacent edges to each other and connected at corresponding edges to the lower edge of the said bust member, a hip, th gh and abdomen member adapted to extend around the body from the back to the front and to be adjustably secured at the front of the body of the wearer, the said members completely covering the body from substantially the bust to the thighs, and drawers or knicker members connected to and depending from the lower edges of the said triangular sections, the said hip, thigh and abdomen member-being adapted to overlie the lower portions of the bust member, to overlie portions of the said triangular sections, and also to overlie portions of the said drawers or knicker members.
