IMPROVEMENT IN REED-OR'GAN CASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 150,871, dated May 12, 1874; application filed April 22, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that LJoEN R. Loi/ms, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Lamp-Brackets for Reed-Organs," and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-

This invention relates to an improvement in organ-cases, the object being to arrange a lamp-bracket on the abutments at the ends of the key-board, which, when not required for use, may appear as an ornament in the panel; and it consists in hin ging the ornament in the panel, so that it may be supported against the panel when not in use, and may be turned down and supported against the panel when required to hold the lamp.

The bracket C consists ot' any suitable panel ornament, preferably of a shell form, its lower edge flat and at right angles to the inner surface of the bracket. This bracket is hinged to the panel, as seen in Figs. l and 3. Its inside surface is fiat, so that when turned down, as seen in Figs. l and 3, it will be supported by the lower edge of the bracket, and serve to support the lamp, as in Fig. 3; but, when not required for use, it may be turned up against the panel, as seen in Fig. 2, and in broken lines, Fig. 3, and appear only as a panel ornament.
While specially intended'for reed-organs, this invention may be applied to other musical instruments with equal advantage, the bracket being an ornament when not in use, and yet, when required, supporting the lamp in a convenient position.
I claim as my invention- In combination with the abutment ot a musical instrument, the bracket C,;hinged to the said abutment, so as to be turned up against the same and form an ornament thereon, or turned down at right angles thereto to form a bracket for a lamp, substantially as described.
