Speciication forming part of Letters Patent N0. 150,803, dated May l2, i874; application filed April 18, 1874.
.To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES TIMMS, of Malta, Morgan county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pitman-Connee tions, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 is a top view of my improved intman-connection, and Fig. 2 is a side vie/W of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved device for taking` up the wear andthe consequent lost motion, and which shall be simple in construction, convenient in use, andeii'eetive in operation. The invention consists in the combination of the sleeve or.y
bearing and the lock-nuts with the head or lug ofthe sickle-bar, and the pitman having a screw-thread cut upon it, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents the sickle-bar, which is provided with a lug or head, a', to receive the hook b1 formed upon the end of the pitman B.
Upon the lower part of the pitnian I3 is placed a sleeve, O, upon one side of the lower end of which is formed a toe or head, c', which is recessed to tupon the sickle-bar head a. The sleeve C is held down by lock-nuts D, placed upon a screw-thread out upon the pit-man B.
