Description

J. S. BURT ET AL WRINGING MACHINE Filed April 9. 1925 Patented June 17, 1924.,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH SMITH BURT, THOMAS WOTHERSPO ON BURT, GEORGE PETER BURT, AND
JOHN WOTHERSPOON BURT, OF GLASGOW, SCOTLAND.
WRINGING MACHINE.
Application filed April 9, 1923. Serial No. 630,836.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, Josnrn SMITH BURT, THOMAS VVo'rHnRsrooN BURT, GEORGE PETER BURT, and JOHN TOTHERSPOON BURT, subjects of the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and residing at ll lileEnd, Glasgow, Scotland, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in lVringing Machines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to wringing machines and has for its primary object to provide means for controlling the discharge of drain water removed from the clothes or the like engaged by the rollers.
To this end, a wringing machine is provided with a drain water compartment shrouding the lower roller and formed with outlets so arranged that drain water accumulated in the compartment may be dis charged from either one side of the wringer or the other at will.
The drain water compartment is preferably constituted by a base comprising a wooden board or a sheet of metal spanning the end members of the metallic wringer frame and located below the lower roller and lateral walls each comprising a wooden board or a metallic sheet spanning the end members of the frame and secured to lateral cheeks formed on said members, the lateral walls each being formed with an outlet with suitable opening and closing means such as a removable plug or a cock.
It is often desirable, owing to the position in which the wringer is located, to drain the machine from one side or the other, and the.
invention affords means by which this may be conveniently done.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is a front spanning the end members 3 of the metallic wringer frame in which the rollers are journalled and located below the lower roller 1 and lateral walls 4 each comprising a wooden board or a metallic sheet spanning the end members 3 and secured to lateral cheeks formed on said members 3. The lateral walls a are each formed with an outlet 6 controlled by a removable plug 7. It will be seen that drain water will discharge from one side or the other depending on which outlet '6 is open. I
lVhat we claim is In a wringing machine, in combination with a frame, upper and lower rollers journalled in said frame, and a compartment housing the lower roller and having closable outlets at opposite sides so that drain water accumulated in said compartment may be discharged from either one side of the vringer or the other at will.
, In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
