TIE BOX.
Application filed December 3, 1923. Serial No. 678,179.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that we, ARTHUR J. PARENT and FRANK J. LAUERMAN, Jr., both citizens of theUnited States, and residents of Menoniinee and Marinette, respectively, in the counties of Menominee and Marinette, respectively, and States of Michigan and Wisconsin, respectively, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tie Boxes; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
This invention relates to necktie boxes.
In necktie boxes, as usually constructed, it has been the practice to provide merely an elongated pasteboard box within which a single neclrtieis carried. When it is desired to display this necktie, the box is customarily stood on end at a sharp slant and the necktie thus disposed to view. However, the necktie frequently slips down, or sags in the box, and presents an unsightly appearance which materially detracts from the efficacy of the display.
It is to overcome the above noted defects that this invention is designed, and objects of this invention are therefore to provide a necktie box which will receive and house the neclrtie in the usual manner while at the same time holding the necktie in the correct position for display purposes7 although the box may be stood on end and inclined at a very great angle to the horizontal.
Further objects are to provide a necktie box in which the desirable feature of holding the necktie in a smooth and attractive manner, when on display, is secured without material increase in the cost of the box and without detracting from the ease with which the neclItie may be positioned within such box.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a front view of the box with the top removed and positioned upon they rear side of the bottom of the box, showing the necktie in its displayed position.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary section on the line 2 2 of Figure l.
Figure 3 is a corresponding section on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
The box comprises the usual bottom portion, indicated generally at l, and the top 2,
which normally closes the box, which, asv
shown in Figure l, may be positioned rearwardly of the bottom portion for display purposes. Vithin the upper end of the bottom portion a` transverse, flexible tape, rpreferably of fabric, Ias'indicated at 3, is provided, and has its ends passed through.v apertures a punched through the side walls 5 of the bottom l. This tape has its extreme ends 6 bent rearwardly over the bottom, prior to the positioning' of the finishing paper, or facing piece. This linishing paper 7 is thereafter pasted over the box, as clearly shown in Figures 2 and 3, and thus secures the ends 6 of the strip 3 in position and hides such ends. y
In using the box the tie is preferably folded in the usual manner and the portion 8 passed downwardly behind the tape 3, as shown in Figure 3, thus positioning the main portion 9 of the tie in an exposed position. It will be seen, therefore, that when the distributor receives the tie that he may either remove the top, or position it rearwardly of the bottom and display the tie in an attractive manner by standing the box on end, thus allowing the tie to hang freely from the strip or tape 3 and preventing any sagging whatsoever, but instead allowing the tie to hang downwardly in a. free and smooth manner.
It will thus be seen that` a tie display box has been provided, in which the additional advantage of correctly displaying the tie is secured without materially increasing the cost of manufacture of the box on the one hand, vand without requiring any diiiicult manipulation of the tie on the other hand.
Although the invention has been described in considerable detail, it is to be understood that it may be variously embodied and is therefore to be limited only as claimed.
Ve claim 1. A necltie display box comprisingr a bottom portion, a top therefor, a tape extending transversely of said bottom portion and having its ends projecting therethrough and folded Hat against the outer side thereof, and a finishing piece pasted upon the ou ter side of said bottom portion and hiding and securing the ends of said tape.
2. A necktie display box comprisingan elongated bottom portion and correspondsaid bottoni portion and hiding and securin gly shaped top portion, a tape extending ing the outer ends of said tape. 10 transversely across said bottom portion ad- In testimony that We @latini the foregoing jaoentbne end thereof and having its ends we have hereunto set our hands at Marinette, passed through apertures formed in the side in the County of Marinette and State of walls of said bottom portion and folded isconsin.
atly' against the rear side of Said bottom ARTHUR J PARENT. Y i portion, and a finishing piece pasted, over f FRANK J. LAUERMAN,`JR.
