HENRY BUGHTER, OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY.
IMPROVEMENT IN CUTTER-HEADS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 149,637, dated April 14, 1874 application filed November 22, 1873,
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY BUCHTER, of Louisville, Jefferson county and State of Ken! tucky, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Gutter-Heads, of which the following is a specification:
The invention will rst be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1. is a side view. Fig. 2 is an end view. Fig. 3 is a side View, showing thehead without the removable cutter. Fig. 4 is a section of Fig. l, taken on the line y y. Fig. 5 is a section taken on the line x x, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This machine consists of a head having two curved wings, A B, formed with a vertical shank, C, (for attaching to a mandrel or headblock of a lathe,) and having a removable center, D. These wings are arranged to receive extra cutters to vary the size and patterns and blank plates for balancing the extra cut- E Erepresent the cutting-edges ofthe wings A B. These edges may be in any form so as to cut a rosette of any desired style when revolved on a lathe or mandrel. On' each faceside ofthe wings A B is a triangular-shaped iiat surface, F, through which are holes G G, provided with screw-threads and screws H, for fastening on other cutters of triangular form, as seen in the drawing, for cutting rosettes of different diameter and form. These extra cutters are made with slots I, which allow them to be adjusted in a suitable manner for cutting. J represents the extra cutter. K are plates which are fastened on the opposite wing by the screw H (one or more) to balance the eXtra cutter. L is a hole, by means of which the center D is removed. Rosettes (or circular moldings) of any desired size and style may be cut with this machine in the most expeditious manner.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Pat- 4 ent- In rosette-cutters, a head constructed wit-h eXtra cutters and balancing-weights, the same being held by the screws H, in the manner and for the purpose described.
A H ENRY BUCHTER. .X'Vitnesses F. HENRY, HENRY PFEIFFER.
