Description

J. E. MORSE HOOK Filed Dec. 1, 3922 Joseph E. Morse WITNESS: ATTORNEY Patented May 13, 1924 JOSEPH E. MORSE, OF THOMASVILLE, GEORGIA.
HOOK.
Application filed December 1, 1922.
Z '0 all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, Josnrn E. Mouse, a citizen of the Jnited States, residing at Thomasville, in the county of Thomas and State of Georgia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hooks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a hook for use with hammocks, swings and the like, the general object of the invention being to provide a rocking oint between the supporting hook and the flexible connection with the hammock or swing so as toeliminate squeaks and other noises.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure l is a view showing the invention in use.
Figures 2 and 3 are detail views.
In these views 1 indicates the hooks which have screw threaded ends for engaging a ceiling or other support for the swing or hammock, 2 the body portion of a double hook which is connected with each of the Serial No. 604,270.
supporting chains 3, the hook at the upper end being arranged at an inclination thence curved upon itself in alignment with the body portion and terminating in a cupshaped part 4: which has a fiat bottom 4- for engaging the flat end of the hook. Thus a rocking connection is provided between the upper end of the hook 2 and the lower end of the hook l which will permit the swing or hammock to be swung and this will eliminate all noises caused by the chains rubbing against the supporting hooks and it will also eliminate wear on the chains.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the 'sev eral parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
\Vhat I claim is A supporting means of the character described comprising a stationary depending hook, a movable hook having its upper end arranged at an upward inclination from its body portion and thence curved upon itself and terminating in alignment with the body portion, a frusto-conical portion formed on the aligned end of the hook, and said end being flattened for receiving the hooked end of the stationary hook as and for the purpose specified.
