IMPROVEMENT IN IMPLEMENTS FOR HAI RVESTING CORN.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 149,071, dat-td March 31, 1874' application filed July 20, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IsAAc N. SALIsBURY, of La Grange, in the county of Walworth in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain other foot or leg a piece 'of sheet metal is lashed, so that said other leg shall not be cut with the knife, and the knife is used with the foot to cut the corn.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a view of the shield to prevent the other leg from being out.
.A is the knife-blade; B B, the prongs, which the knife-blade is secured to; O 0, side pieces, secured to the frame; D, the shank of the frame; E E, side pieces at the rear end of the frame; F, a projection on the end of the frame, which the heel of the boot or shoe strikes knife is brought forward with the foot, and V striking the corn it is shaved off, and the shield is secured to the other leg, so that the end of the knife shall not cut the leg.
I claim Knife A, prongs B, side pieces E, and prolongation F to keep the knife from slipping back, in a corn-cutter, substantially as described.
