IMPROVEMENT lN SASH-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 148,858, dated March 24, 1874 application filed January 21, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIAS- STOUFFER, of Macon, county of Macon, Illinois, have invented Improvements in Sash Locks, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates to an improvement in sash-locks, and consists in the novel arrangement of a slotted plate, sliding pintle, and pivoted cam, as will be hereafter more fully described.
Figure 1 is a broken vertical section of window frame and sash, showing my inven tion; and Fig. 2 is a plan of the same.
I A is the frame, and B the sash; a, a strip separating the sash; a, a rope or cord, all constructed and operated in the usual manner.
0 is a metal plate with corners cut to allow the plate to pass between the strip a and the cord (0. c is a slot in which the cam D drops when in operation. E is a sliding pintle,
hinged to the plate 0. The cam D is also pivoted on the pintle E. The lock is operated by sliding the pintle E, bringing the cam D directly over the slot 0, when it (the cam) turns on the pintle, the lower front edge or corner dropping in the slot 0, bringing the corrugated face of the cam against the outside sash, thereby locking the window, when not in operation, the cam is raised out of the slot 0 and slid to the other end of the plate 0, where it (the cam) stands perpendicular with its base resting on the plate 0, allowing the sash to be raised at pleasure.
I claim as my invention 1. The cam D, when PiX'OlJGLl on the sliding pintle E, as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The arrangement of the cam D, pintle E, and plate 0, with the slot 0, operating as and for the purpose set forth.
