Description

Patented Mar. 25, 1924.
UNITED STTSPTET ()FFICE.
JULIUS SIDA, '13., OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
COMB.
Application filed. August 15, 1923.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUs SIDALJL, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, State of Indiana,
and useful Improvements in in the county have invented certain new of Marion and Combs, of
which the following is a specification.
In carrying out is my purpose to prom the present invention it le a comb wherein the teeth thereof are provided upon opposite sides with pockets for catching the dirt and dandruff from quently preventing the hair and for consethe collecting of the same between the teeth at the upper ends thereof.
It is a well known fact that during the during matter will be stroked and dirt will collect the upper ends and through the hair for consequently dirtying the same.
It is therefore my object to provide a comb wherein the sirable feature is di above mentioned undespensed with.
A still further object is the provision of such a comb that may be manufactured marketed at a cost the present type of and no greater than that of combs.
With the above and other objects in view as the nature of the invention is better understood the same comprises the novel form set forth in the following specification,
shown in the accompanying drawing, an
claimed.
In the drawing characters lndicate wherein like reference corresponding parts throughout the several views,
Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevational view partly in section, of my improved comb,
Figure 2 is a vertical section taken substantially upon the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, and
Serial No. 657,516.
Figure 3 is a transverse section through one of the comb teeth taken substantially upon the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Now having particular reference to the drawing, 5 designates the usual bar portion of the comb upon which is formed the spaced teeth 6.
My improvement embodies the provision of channels or pockets 7 formed upon the opposite sides of each of these teeth 6, the length of these channels or pockets being slightly lesser than the length of each of the teeth as more clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
In view of the foregoing, it will at once be apparent that during the use of a comb constructed in such a manner the dirt and dandruff from the hair will be effectively caught in these channels or pockets 7 and be consequently prevented from collecting between the teeth at the upper ends thereof.
Minor changes may be made within the invention without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A comb including a solid body portion having a plurality of teeth projecting therefrom in spaced relation, said teeth being of uniform dimension throughout their length, the opposing faces of the teeth being formed with relatively large recesses having a fiatbottom merging into shoulder portions adjacent the edges and ends of the teeth for providing a dirt receiving recess adapted to prevent dirt from collecting at the base of the teeth and in the space thcrebetween for clogging the comb.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
