UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FACE-POWDER CONTAINER.
Application filed April 19, 1927. Serial No. 184,911.
The principal objectof the present invention is to provide simple and eflicient means in a face powder container of this type for holding the powder puff within the container and out of contact with the face powder therein.
Other objects and advantages reside in thedetail construction of the invention, which is designed for economy, simplicity and efficiency. These Will become more apparent from the following description.
In the following detailed description of the invention reference is had to the accompanying drawing which forms a part hereof. Like numerals refer to like parts in all views of the drawing and throughout the description. I
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is an illustration of a face powder container in,which the invention has been embodied, the container being partly broken away to show the interior construction.
Fig. 2 is a cross section through the container lid, taken on the line 22, Fig. 3.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the lower face of the lid showing the invention in place.
Let the numeral 10 designate a face pow-.
der container and the numeral 11 the lid thereof. The container and the lid illustrated represent one of the types of containers at present on the market. The invention, however, is equally applicable to any type or shape of powder container and the container per se forms no part of the present invention.
Secured to the under side of the lid 11 is a powder puff shelf 12 which is held in spaced relation -to the lid by means of a connecting wall 18 which partially sur-' rounds the shelf 12 and terminates in narrow peripheral flanges 14 which retain the powder puff, shown at 16, on the shelf 12.
The free extremity of the shelf 12 is cut back, as shown at 17, to allow easy access for the removal of the powder puff.
Openings 15 may be formed in the shelf 12 to allow any accumulated powder to sift therethrough, in fact, the shelf could be formed almost entirely open, if desired, onl sufficient stock being left to uphold the pu The uses and advantages of the improve ment are readily apparent and need no further description.
While a specific form of the improvement has been described and illustratedherein, it is desired to be understood that the same may be varied, within the S00 e of the appended claim, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is Means for supporting a powder pufi in a face powder container, comprising a shelf secured to the underside of the lid of said container, said shelf being partially surrounded by a wall by means of which it is secured and held in spaced relation to said lid and a peripheral flange on said shelf for holding said powder puff in place, said flange acting as a continuation of said wall so that said puff may be passed over said flange into place on said shelf.
In testimony whereof, I afiix my signature.
GERTRUDE B. DENNIS.
