To all 'may concern Be itk'nownthat I, MELVILLE MILLER,- a r citizen ,of the'United States, residing at Pittsfield, county f Pike, and State of Illijc nois, have.invented a certain new and useful Im' roi/ement=in -Vanity Cases, of which the fpowing is a` specification, reference being'had ,to the y accompanying drawing, forming apartfthereof. 4 This invention lrelates generally to toilet 4articlesand,v morep'articularly, to a certain' n 'new and useful improvement in toilet artifcles of the type or class commonly known asyanity-cases. l5 `My present invention has for vits chief object the provisionof a vanity-case comprising -a memberin the form of a doublemirror functioning not only as a swingable wall movably'dividing or separating the interior of the case-into two main toilet-articlecontaining=compartments, but also as a convenient lreflecting-medium at one or the other of its surfaces as the contents of one or theother of `the'compartments of the case I' 25 may be selectively use Another object of my present invention is to provide a vanity-case which is conven-V ientlyfportable- 'and which compactly includes readily accessible compartments for toilet-articles and coins.`

' With the above andv other objects in view, my present invention resides in the novel features of form', construction, arrangement, and combination of parts hereinafter pointed out in the claims. v

Referring now more 1n detail and by reference characters to the said drawing, which 5 illustrates a preferred embodiment of my invention, the vanity-case is in the form of a shell made up ofa pair of annularly flanged or cup-shaped members A and B oppositely disposed the one to the other and m hingeclly fastened together for relative swinging or pivotal movement. by means comprising preferably a plurality of pintle-.eyes 1 disposed upon -a 'pintle 2. Preferably the member A is of somewhat greater depth than member B and may be properly designated as the lid or top of the case, the member B being designated as the base or body of the case.

a The lid A, as clearly seen in Figures 1 and 2, is adapted to provide a convenient compartment or chamber for a'face-powdr compact or the' like 3 and powder-pu 4; and not only providing'a retaining-wallfor the articles so disposed in lid A, but also dividing or separating the compartment of lid A from the chamber of base B, is a mem ber C comprisingpreferably a pair of circular mirrors 5-6permanently secured together in flatwise opposed relation' by means of an embracing rim 7 provided with a pintle-eye 8 .also disposed upon the pintle 2, whereby the member C' is also swingable relatively to both the lid A and base B. Preferably the pintle-eye 8 is suitably olset, as shown in Figure 2, so that normally the mirror-member C is disposed within the chamber or compartment of lid A, as shown. The member C. is, however, provided with a ment with which the mirror-member C may be swung to expose the toilet-articlesv contained within the chamber of lid A. 10 indicates a -circular plate or disk provided with a plurality of circular apertures 0f preferably varying diameter, and disposed at an end in such respective apertures and permanently iXed to disk 10, are depending open-end cylindrical -shells 11, 1 2, and 13, the plate 10- and its said depending shells 11, 12, and 13 being adapted to snugly fit within base B, as illustrated in Figures 1 and' 2. The chamber of base B is thereby, in turn, divided into a plurality of additional individual compartments, one of which, preferably the largest compartment 13, being adapted to receive and accommodate a rouge-compact or the like 1li, and a rouge-puff 15, and the smaller compartments 11 and l2 being adapted to receive and accommodate coins of dierent value or denomination. -To facilitate the removal of the coins from the compartments 11 and 12, each of such compartments is provided with a yieldingly depressible disk 16, the plate or disk 10 being formed atsaid coma relecting medium on use of the toilet ar. ticles contained within the chamber of lid A.

Opposite'the hinged-pintle 1, the case orv A and B are provided with shell members co-operating spring-catch 19 and recess seat 20, whereby the lid and base members A and B may be releasably locked together in y closed position.

Having thus described my invention, what 1 claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. Alvanity-case including a cup-shaped lid, a'cup-shaped base oppositely disposedv to the lid the lid and base providing containing chambers for toilet articles, and

' means comprising a pintle for hingedly fastening the lid and base together for rela tive swinging movement, in combination with a combined partition and double mirror member of reduced size to fit within the lid, and means comprising a pintleeye for hingedly fastening the mirror to said pintle for swinging move-ment relatively -to the lid and base,l the pintle-eye being laterally offset from the pintle for normally disposing the mirror-member within the connes of the lid and said partition and mirronmember i providing a. retaining wall for the toilet articles contained within the lid and also providing a reflecting medium at one or the other of its surfaces on the selected use of the articles contained within the lid or base.

2. A vanity-case comprising a cup-shaped base, an apertured disk disposed within, and spacedilatwise from the bottom wall of, the base, and cylindrical shells disposed within the base and lengthwise through the apertures of the disk and providing coin and powder chambers, the bottom-wall of the base forming the bottom-wall of said shells.
