To all wiamn it may W m; Be it known that 1, 5:12
a citizen of the United Walton, in the county a N Sta residin at of laware and invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flat-Sided Washtubs; and I do declare the followin to be a full, clear, and exact description 0 the invention, such as will enable others 1 skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in wash tubs and has reference more particularly to tubs which are used when clothing through a wringer from one tub to another. The invention also relates to tubs which are used in connection with washing machines having power-operated wringers, During the wringing operaerformed by a machine of this charac ter, t e usual circular tubs cannot brought into sufiiciently close relation with each other and close enough to the washing chine, to prevent water from dripping onto only contact with each other at one point and water will drip from the wringe at opposite sides of this point. It is the ob ect of my invention however two flat vertical side at right angles to each other, and
a curved wall connecting the outer ends ,of said fiat walls. Thus, the flat side of the tub may contact tightly with the cor gl nd in side of another tub and the other flat two tubs may M disposed adjacent to the wmhin machine, pett' the contacting ii o the two tubs to be dis posed directli under the mint, so that there is no nger of any water 11 his arrangement is sti further advantageous when more than two l tubs must be placed side by side and clothes rom one to another and furof the tubs are used transferred thermore, when two i in connection with a hand wringer, the ordinary wringer clamps may beemployed to secure the adjacent flat sides of said tubs tightly in contact with each other With h novel subject matter herein being supplemented drawings Figure 1 is a side elevation of a washing machine equipped with a power-driven t e foregoing in view, the invention W resides in the after described and-claimed, the description by the accompanying tub support, showing two in accordance with my intlie support beneath the of the tubs and 0f the washing in :1
Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the S11 and a vertical thereon.
Fig. 4 is a the-tubs.
In the drawings above briefly described, I have shown a washing machine 1, havin a mechanicall driven wringer 2 and below this wringer l have illustrated a pair, of m improved tubs 3 resting on the usual tu support 4.
Each of the tubs 3 is pport sectional view of the tubs provided with two vertical fiat side walls 5 at right angles to each other and with a curved side wall 6 connecting the outer ends of said flat walls 5, the three walls bein suitably secured to a bottom 7, all arts eing preferably but not necessarily o galvanized sheet metal.
By employing two of my improved tubs in connection with a wringer, either hand or power-operated, it will be seen that two of the flat sides of said tubs run be disposed in tight contact with each ot or below the wringer and that the contacting surface is sufic'ently extensive to prevent any water whatever from dripping outside of the tube. If the wringer is of, hand-operated nature, the usual clam s ma be employed to secure the fiat sides 0 the tubs in contact with each other. However, when the tubs are supported upon a stand a beneath a power-operated wringer associated with a washing machine, the sides of the tubs will not be clam ed in contact with each other but they wi nevertheless maintain asuficiently close en agement to prevent leaka of water onto t e floor, as it drips from t wringer. The flat sides of the two tubs perspective view of one ofill which do not contact with each other are disposed adjacent to the washing machine 1 and thus said tubs may he positioned in suficiently' close relation with the machine, to revent any dripping of water between said tubs and mac ine, as now coonly occurs.
As excellent results may the details disclosed, these be obtained from details are preferably followed. However, withinthe scope J oi the invention as claimed, minor changes and an arcuate side wall. connecting B I map the outer ends of said flat walls, being inclined outward and upward. 10 In testimony whereof I have hereunto in form, proportions and unimportant etails, may be made. I
I claim l 5 As a new article of manufacture, avwashaflixed my signature.
tilb having a bottom, two verticalflat side walls arranged at right angles to each other, HELEN F. BIEDEKAPP.
