COMBINED MUSIC-*LEAF HOLDER AND TURNER.
Application filed. July 5, 1921.
To ZZ who/m it may concern.'
Be it known that I, MAfr'rr Nimm, citi'- zen of Finland, residing at Seattle. in the county of King and State of .Vaslringtou, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Music-Leaf Holders and Turners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to music leaf holders and turners.
An objectof my improvements is the provision of an inexpensively constructed and eicient device of this character which is adapted to be folded to occupy a small s ace. Another object of the invention is tlie provision of simple and durable means which are operable by players foot for conveniently turning music leaves.
Other objects and advantages of the in vention will appear from the following dcscription.
The invention consists in the novel construction, adaptation and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings,-
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of a music stand embodying my invention. F ig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view taken substantially through 2-2 of Fig. 1, with one of the leaf-turning levers illustrated in a different position from that in which it is represented in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section through 3-3 of Fig. 1. Fig. 41 is a view in front elevation of portions of the operating connections for one of the leat turners, a portion of the latter and the supporting bracket therefor being shown 1n longitudinal vertical. section. Fig. 5 is a detail vertical section through 5-5 of Fig. 3. Fig. 6 is a fragmentary perspective view of y Fig. 1.
In said drawings, the reference numerals 10 and 101 represent telescopically arranged tubular members of a post. Said post is supported by three foldable legs such as l2 including brace elements 13, which are connected b pivot pins 14 to ears of collars 15 provide upon the post member 101.
The post member 10 is formed with a chisel-like upper extremity 101" (Fig. 2) which engages in a socket provided in a bar 16 which serves as an extension of said post. Connected to the lower portion of the ba.1 16 by pivots 161 are complementar bracket members 17 and wing bars 18. aid bars, bracket members and connecting link ele- Serial No. 482,492.
ments 181 constitute a frame which is removably connected to the post and is ca pable of being folded into a small compass by swinging the bracket members and wing bars upwardly against the part 16.
The bracket members 17 are in the nature of angle-rails, each having a horizontal flange element 171 and a vertical flange element 172, the adjacent ends of the flanges 171 being formed to abut against each other for retaining the rail members in alignment with each other when in use.
Supported upon each of said bracket members is a horizontal lever 19 which is fulcrumed by a pin 9 to they respective bracket flange 171 at a distance from the post axis and with respect to the lever i0 afford relatively short and long arms 191 and 192 thereto. e
Carried by the long arm of a lever are paper-sheet engaging devices in the nature of clips 201, 202, 203 and 204. The clip 20l is fixedly secured to a lever in proximity to the fulcrum thereof, the clip 202 extends laterally from the upper end of a substantially vertical rod 21 which is also fixedly secured to the lever in proximity to the lever fulcrum.
The clip 203 is slidable longitudinally on the lever and the clip 201 extends laterally from a rod 211 which is disposed in the plane of the rod 21 and is connected to the respective lever for movements longitudinally thereof. By thus arranging the clips a paper leaf or sheet indicated by A in Fig. 1, is engaged at its lower edge and at op# posite sides near its top for different widths of leaves. The bracket flanges 172 are respectively provided with slots 22 to accommodate the shorter arms 191 of the levers when being swung in the turning of a sheet.
For effecting sheet turning movements of a lever, the short arm 191 thereof is connected, as shown in Fig. 4, by means of a link 23 with swivel attachments 24 of wires 25 and 251 which extend over guide pulleys 26 and 261 connected at opposite sides of the respective fulcrum pin 9 to said frame.
To the wire ends below said pulleys are secured hooks 27 which are engageable in selected links of chains 28 which are connected by wires 29 with the ends of pedal devices 30, one for each of the aforesaid levers.
Said pedal devices are in the nature of levers which are fulcrumed at their midlengths to standards 3l extending upwardly frein e ioor plete 32 disposed transversely ivitli respect to the inusic stand.

ln operation a sliee of nrisie attached to eitlier of die levers lQ v tlie respectve clips is turned about the fiile-ruin pin 9 therefor through the niediinn of the flexible connections and the associated pedal lever SO.
