LEONARD ERIKSON, OF MALDEN, BIASSACHUSETTS.l
SHOWCASE REFLECTOR.
Applicatin led August 17, 1921. Serial Ne. 492,989.
To all 'whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, LEONARD ERIKsoN, a
I citizen of the United States, and a resident of Malden, in the county 'of lVIiddlcseX and State of Massachusetts, have .invented a new and useful Improvement in Showcase Reflectrs, of which the following is a specinca-tion.
the cleaning of the parts of the show case which are behind the reflector when the latter is in its normal position.
With these objects in view my invention comprises a trough-shaped show-case reflector having .side members terminating in flanges, and a conduit for electrical conduc-v tors removably secured to the reflector in the' corner thereof between the side members, so that the mirrors or other reflecting.
members may be held in position between said flanges and the sides of said conduit.
, My invention further comprises a bracket adapted to be attached to a show case and having its arms terminating, respectively, in a hook and a bead, said hook being arranged to receive one of the side members of the reflector and the bead being arranged to snap over the other of said side members, so that the reflector may be suspended by said hook when itv is released from the "beaded end of the bracket.
An illustrative embodiment of my invention is shown in the drawings which accompany and form a part` of this specificaf tion and in which- Figure 41 is a planyiew of the underside of a reflector embodying my invention;
Fig. 2 is a section of my improved reflector taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1 and showing said reflector applied to a roundrail show-case;
Fig. 3 is a similar section showing the.
-a substantially horizontal portion 24 ter- 110 reflector ,suspended from the bracket to en' lmembers heretofore employed in devices of able the parts of the show case in the rear of the reflector to be cleaned.
In the particular drawings selected for more fully disclosing my invention 10 and 11 represent the side members of the reflector, said side members being shown in the present instance as arranged at right angles to each other, the side member 10 being substantially vertical and the side member 11 which constitutes the top mem# ber being substantially horizontal. Ar-l ranged in the corner of the reflector between the side members is a 'conduit 12 for the electrical conductors 13, Vsaid conduit f being removably secured to the reflector by" the screw 14. The' socket 15 of any suitable construction, adapted to hold a horizontally arranged lamp 16 is secured to the conduit by a screw (not shown) in the manner ,set forth in my Letters Patent 1,380,368, dated .lune 7, 1921.
The vertical side member 10 of the reflector terminates in a flange 17 angularly related thereto and the horizontal side member 11 terminates in a flange 18 which in turn terminates` in the downturned end member 19. y 1
Reflecting members 20, 21, such as strips of vsilvered glass, are removably secured between the flanges of the f side members of the'reflector and thesides of the conduit 12 without the use of clips or any other securperforming,` in
ing means, said conduit thus part, the function of the mirror-securing this character. Mirrors used in show case reflectore are frequently'broken and heretofore, -when the strips of mirror were attached to the reflector by clips, the pieces of a cracked mirror usually fell out of the reflector. It will be obvious however that in my improved reflector, in which the mirror -st rips are held inl position by memberswhich are in contact with the same throughout the .entire length, such mirrors will beretained 100 l in position even after they have been cracked by the heat of the electric lamp or by hard usage.
lVhile Various means may be employed to removably secure the reflector to the show case, I prefer to use narrow brackets, each having a substantially verticalportion 22 terminating in a hook 23 to reee1ve the end of the side member 10 ofthe reflector," and minating in a bead 25 arranged to snap over 'the end of the top member l1 of the re- Hector. As shown in Fig. 3, the reflector may be released from said bead and suspended by said hook, the flange 17 engaging with the end of the hook for this purpose. y
Having thus particularly described a specific embodiment of my invention Without however limiting the same thereto, What 'l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A trough-sha ed show-case reflector comu n c n n o prislng a substantially vertical side member and asubstantially horizontal top member, said side member terminating 1n a ange'angl'ilarly related thereto and said top member terminating in a flange angularly related thereto, the last mentioned liange terminating in a down-turned end member angularly related to said top member, a conduit for electrical conductors removably secured to said reflector in the corner thereof between said side andy top members and having its sides angularly related thereto. respectively, and reflecting members removably secured to the inner surfaces of said side and top members be-` tween said flanges and the sides of said conduit respectively. f y
In testimony whereof, l have hereunto subscribed my name this 16 day of August,
- LENARD ERIKSON.
