Description

Unrrnn STATES AE FFICE.
CHAUNCEY BUCKLEY, OF MERIDEN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE l MERIDEN CURTAIN-FIXTURE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN GAME-TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. i118, l 174, dated Marc-h 3, 1874; vapplication tiled January 15, r18'74.v
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GHAUNcEv BUcKLnY, of Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Imj'irovement in GameTables; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description ot' the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, iii- Figure l, a front view, Fig. 2, a partial side view 5 Figs. 3 and 4, detached views, to illustrate the method of holding the table, and in Fig. 5, a top view 'of the table.
'Ihis invention relates to an improvement in the gaine-table for whiclrLetters Patent were granted to Siegfried S. Schindler, dated May 27, 1873, and which patent is now owned by the assignees of this invention. The invention consists, first, in combining with a swinging table a box supported in the same frame as the table; second, in providing the table, upon one or both edges, with a series oi' indentations around its pivot, and a projection on the frame in position relative to the pivot corresponding to said indentations, and combined with a nut or set-screw, which will force that side or arm of the frame against 4the table, and cause the projection to enter either indentation when brought into line with the said projection.
A is the base, from which rises the hollow post B, and into which the spindle C, which supports the table-frame, is set, and secured at any desired elevation by the set-screw D, in like manner as in the patent before referred to. E E are two vertical arms, which support between them the table F, also as in said patent. In the base or bar which extends across from arm to arm below the table, I
make a depression or recess, into which a boX,
pivot, I tix a plate, L, with numerous perforations, a, equidistant from the center or pivot, and on one ofthe arms, E,I form a project-ion, d, distant from the center corresponding to the indentations a, as seen in Fig. 3. Upon the arm, at the center, I arrange a nut or setscrew, N, by which to draw the arm or table together; and when the table is turned so as to bring one of the indentations a in line with the projection d, the turning oi' the set-screw will draw the parts together, as seen in Fig. 3, thus holding them in that position. Loosening the screw will allow the table to turn. Upon the checker-board, upon opposite margins PP, I make a series of pcrforations, in double rows, in sections of tive each, as at f, as counters for cribbagc and similar games.
I claim as my invention- 1. In a table consisting oil the base A, hollow post B, adjustable rod C, carrying the frame E El H, and with a table, F, pivoted in the said frame, the part H of the frame, recessed, and the b ox G in said recess, substantially as described.
2. The plate L,iiXed to the table and formed with several depressions, a., around the pivot, combined with the project-ion d on the frame, and the nut or screw N, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
