Utili? FRANK HOHMANN, OF CHICAGO, ILLNOIS.
ELASTIC SUPPORT FOR TROUSERS.
Application led December 13, 1922. Serial No. 606,726.
To all whom may concern.'
Be it known that l, FRANK Herrin-inn, a citizen of the United States. and 'a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in an Elastic Support for Trousers, of which the following, when taken in connection with the drawing accompanying and forming a part hereof, is a specification.
This invention relates to belt supports for trousers; and among the objects of the invention is to obtain an elastic beltr support; that is, a support which comprises an ordinary belt and in addition thereto provides means whereby desired elasticity is obtained, to permit free motion of the body of the person wearing the same. An additional object is to obtain an elastic support for trousers which is attachable to buttons placed on the inside of the waist of the trousers; which permits the device embodying the invention, including the belt, to be placed on the inside of the trousers, which is readily adjustable to lit the location of the buttons on the trousers; which is economically made, is durable; and the attachment and operation whereof is readily understood and easily manipulated.
In the drawings referred to Fig. l is perspective of an elastic support embodying the invention. z Y
iig. 9, is a vert-ical section through the belt forming a member of the device and through one of the elastic members thereon, together with a. section of the upper portion of trousers attached thereto,
Fig. 3 is an elevation of one of the elastic members of the device, with a side elevation of a portion of the belt on which it is mounted, showing a button of the trousers engaged by said elastic member.
Fig. 4 is an elevation of a metal forming an element of the elastic illustrated in Fig. 3, with a loop which is illustrated as formed up and attached to said support.
Fig. 5 is a perspective of the loop element which is illustrated in Fig. 4; and
Fig. 6 is a perspective o'f the metal support which is illustrated inl Fig. 4.
Figs. 3, 4, 5 and 6 are on an enlarged scale.
A referencev character applied to designate a given part indicates said part support support element of wire ber lc extends.
throughout the several figures of the drawing wherever the same appears.
l A:represents a belt of the ordinary construction, having the buckle members le adjustably attached to the ends thereof. l represents a metal member forming an element of the elastic support, which is provided with the apertures lg, lg. ld a'member which forms an element of the elastic support, and is secured to the member la. Member ld is illustrated as bent up of wire to obtain bar li, over which the elastic mem- Member ld is bent up to obtain the ends lf, lf, and the bends lh, l". In assembling ends lf, lf, and bends lh, lh, extend through the members la and ld, theY the apertures lg, lg, with said bends rest-ing' in said apertures, as is well illustrated in Fig. 4. 2a represents a covering of textile material which extends over the member l,
and below the lower end thereof, and over Y to the textile cover 2a, as by stitching l5,
Fig. 2. lb represents a triangular shaped wire member which is attached to the upper end of the elastic member l, and is adapted to be attached to button 3a. The button is attached to the inside of the trousers band as by stitching 3", Figs. 2 and 3. 2b represents a portion of a pair of trousers.
To obtain the loop through which the belt l is extended ,l carry the textile material forming the covering 2a below the lower end of metal member la and loop it upwards, attaching it, at Vits end to said covering 2a, as by stitching at 2, Fig. 2.
To attach the trousers to the triangular loop lb the button 32L is passed through said loop, into the position illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3. Y
Before engaging the triangular member lh with a button 3, the elastic support is moved along the belt l into proper relative position with said button, and when said engagement is made the elastic member lc is drawn over the bar li of member ld; and by the movement of the body of the person wearing device said members lb are drawn down by the lengthening of said elastic members 1, correspondingly with said ,movement of the body.
By the foregoing described construction l. obtain an elastic support for trousers, the several members ot which are adjustable on the belt on `which they are mounted, and the belt is on the inside of the Waist band ot' the trousers, and is not exposed to View.
l claim:
l. In an elastic support .for trousers, a plurality of metal standards, barsoffset from said standards at the upper ends thereof, coverings of textile material on said standards, said coverings respectively extended below the corresponding inet-al standard and the ends thereof attached to said coverings midway of said standards to form loops, triangular instal members respectively adapted to engage with a trousers button, and elastic members respectively secured at the lower end thereotto a corresponding covering and at the upper end extending over said bar corresponding therewith and attached to a corresponding one of said triangular members, in combination with a belt arranged to extend through said loops, to inox/'ably mount said elastic sup ports thereon.
2. An elastic support 'for trousers coniprising a inetal standard, a bar olfset from said standard at the upper end thereof, a covering of textile material on said standard, said covering extended beyond said standard and the end thereof attached to said covering' midway of'said standard to form a loop, a triangular metal member adapte: to engage with a trousers button and an elastic member secured at the lower end thereof to said covering and at the upper end extending over said har and attached to said triangular member, in combination with a belt arrangedto extend through said loop to movably mount said elastic support thereon.
