Description

Jah. 1,1924 c. P. BLEvENs 1479361 SOAP DISH Filed Feb. 16. 1923 ifa/?? Patented Jan. l, i924.
STATS SOAP DISH.
Application filed February 16, 1923. Serial No. 619,341.
T @ZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLns- P. BLEVENS,
a citizen of the United Sta-tes, residing at Evansville, in the county of Vanderburg and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soap Bishes, of which 'the following is a specification.
My invention relates to soap dishes, and the primary object thereof resides in the provision of such a soap dish that is comparatively simple of construction, and inexpensive, of manufacture, the said dish being well adapted to sepa-rate the soap from the usual water and moisture carried thereby after being used.
It is a known fact that in the ordinary soap dishes, the water and moisture commingles with the soap, which occasions the melting of the soap which will consequently decrease the life of an ordinary cake of soap.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, com bination, and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawing forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and whereinz- Figure l-is a perspective view of soap dish constructed in accordance with this invention;
Figure Q-is a central longitudinal cross sectional view thereof. f
Referring to the drawing in detail, deS- ignates the soap dish, which may be, and preferably is square-shape and embodies a front and rear wall 6 and 7 and side walls 8.
The major portion of the bottom wall 9 of the soap dish is raised above the lower edges of the front, rear and side walls there- 45 of, and slopes slightly downwardly towards the rear wall 7. At the front end of the said bottoni wall 9, the dish is formed with a water reservoir 10, the said bottom wall being centrally formed upon its top side with a channel 11, which slopes downwardly in a direction towards this reservoir.
The top face of the bottom wall 9 is formed with rearwardly and inwardly sloping channels 12 for the purpose of conveying the water and moisture into the said channel 11 for consequently conveying said water or moisture into the said reservoir 10 at the front end of the dish.
At the inner end of the channel 1l, the rear wall 7 of the dish is formed with a projection 13, the purpose of the same being 'to prevent the cake of soap that is supported upon the bottom 9 from having close contact with the said rear wall for obvious purposes, and in View of the above description, it will of course be at once apparent that when a cake of soap is laid upon the wall 9 of the soap dish, 'the inclination of the same is such as to cause the soap to slide rearwardly away from the reservoir 10. Any water or moisture that is carried by the soap will be caught in the channels l2 and conveyed to the central channel 11, which will in turn convey the water or moisture into the reservoir 10.
Although I have herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the present invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein, without departing from the spirit and scope of the yinvention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is:
In a soap dish wherein.l the bottom wall is raised for the major portion of its area for providing a water receptacle at the front end of the dish, said raised portion of the bottom wall sloping away from said reservoir and provided with a central channel sloping towards said reservoir and being further provided with transversely extendino` rearwardly and inwardly sloping channe s. l
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
c. r. BLEvENs.
