Description

W. T. FRY.
Curtain Corgi-Holders.
No.147,493. i PatentedFeb.17,1874
C2 C: @5w um() UNITED STATEs PATENT OFFICE.
VILLIAM T. FRY, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-CORD HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 147,493, dated February 17, 1874; application filed J annary 3, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM T. FRY, of Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of N ew York, have invented certain-Improvements in Shade- .Gord Holders, of which the following' is a tom. Inside of this cylinder is placed a' spiral sprin g,surroundin g the rod, and serving to keep the saine down to the bottom of the cylinder. On the back and outer side of this cylinder are two projections at or near the ends of the cylinder. These projections are provided with shoulders, which serve to hold the cylinder firmly to a hollow plate fastened to a wooden frame. This hollow plate is provided with a number of longitudinal slots at equal distances apart from each other, and so arranged that the projections of the cylinder will iit the slots when placed opposite. To prevent the cylinder from accidentally becoming detached from the plate before the cord is placed over the pulley, the slots are made narrow at the top, and terminating in a rounded opening at the bottom. By arranging the projections slightly farther apart than the rounded openings are, the cylinder is prevented from detaching distance from the plate. 4
In order to more fully describe my invention,
I refer to the accompanying drawing formingl a part of this specification.
Figure I` is a front view of a cord-holder embodying my invention. Fig. II is a detached enlarged top view of the hollow plate. Fig. III is a detached enlarged sectional view of the cylinder.
A is the pulley, pivoted at b to the rod C D, the cylinder, with the square opening e at the top and closed at the bottom atf; G, the spiral spring; HH, projections provided with shoulders t' i; J, the rest on the back of the cylinder; K, the hollow plate, fastened at ll to a window-frame, M 5 n n, slots, with the rounded openings o o at the bottom; and l), a pulley attached to the shade-roller.
Having thus described my invention, I de sire to claimp A shade-cord holder consisting of cylinder D, with projections H H, rod O, spiral spring G, plate K, holes o, slots u, and pulley A, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
IV. T.. FRY.
