\VILLIAM II. CHIPLEY, OF NE? MIDIVAY, MARYLAND, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- IIALF HIS RIGHT TO FRANCIS G. RENNER, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN APRON-SUPPORTERS AND PAGES.
Spzcifieation-forming part of Letters Paent No. 147,479, dated February. 17, 1374; application filed I January 21, 1*74.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM H. 01-111mm, of New l\:lid\\"a-y, in the county of Frederick and State of h'laryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Apron-Supporter and Ladys Page; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertainsto make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying; drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in a combined apron-supporter and ladys page.
In the drawings, Figure l is a plan view of my spring-zone, showing its shape when relieved from tension; and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of my invention.
My invention consists in the combinations and parts as hereinafter specified and claimed, wherein A is the belt or zone, formed of springsteel or other suitable material. Upon this zone is hung the apron B, which may be slid ott' or on the zone A. To one extremity of zone A is attached the clutch U, through I which slides the other end of the zone A.
I do not limit myself narrowly to the clutch C, as any suitable means may be employed for securing the ends of the zoncwheu in use.
An y apron, shield, or other desired garment is attached to the zone A in such a way that it may be readily slid ofl' or upon said zone, as 'indicated in the drawings. The zone is then placed around the waist and clutched. Its natural spring keeps it in proper contact with the person, not allowing it to be too tight or too loose. When desired to be used as a pa go, all that it is necessary to do is to tuck the garbe readily brought into place again; third, its" use as a ladys page is sufliciently evident not to need remark.
The zone A may be either plain and unorna mented, or it may be painted or enameled to imitate leather or fabric .of any desircd description.
Havin g thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the zone A, apron or garment Rand clutch G, or its equivalent. substantially as andibr the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 8th day of January, 1874.
