EMERGENCY HANDLE FOR'DOMESTIC RECEPTACLES.
Application filed March 7, 1922. Serial No; 541,632.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I,- FREDERICK WARREN WILKES; a' subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at 61 Adria Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham, in the county of \Varwick,
England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements Relating to an Emergency Handle for Domestic Receptacles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
This invention relates to domestic receptacles such as cups o-r jugs and has for its object to provide an emergency handle which can be applied to such receptacles in the event of the usual handle being broken.
A device according to the present invention comprises a handle shaped member made of suitable material having at one end a hook portion adapted to engage over the .edge of the receptacle and having at its other end an abutment portion adapted to en age against the side of the receptacle.

An emergency handle for domestic receptacles comprising a sheet metal member, having a fluted bow shaped central portion adapted for engagement by the fingers; a shoulder at one end thereof adapted to fit against. the. side of the receptacle; a straight strut portion intermediate the said how shaped portion and the shoulder to hold the latter against the side of the receptacle; a U shaped portion at the opposite end of the bow shaped portion; two laterally extendin" fluted portions on the outer limb of, said U shaped portion, disposed one on each side of the handlertwo fluted extremities on this end. extending parallel to the arms of the U-shaped o-rtion and spaced apart laterally one on sec 1 side of the handle opposite the fluted'portions on the U shaped portion; and an elastic band disposed around said shoulder to prevent the shoulder from slipping on the side of the receptacle; all so arranged that the two fluted extremities and the laterally extending fluted portions engage with opposite sidesof the receptacle.
