Devices, of which the following is the specii tication.
My invention relates to improvements in counter display price indicating ticket devices and the object of the invention is to devise a unitary structure whereby the prices of each of the commodities arranged on a counter may be clearly indicated and such a device as is flexible in the interchange of price indications and commodity descriptions so that any price or description desired may be indicated adjacent to each of the commodities on the counter and also to provide such a device as will be sanitary by always being out of contact with the goods such as meat and by which the tickets are therefore not contaminated thereby and it consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as hereinafter more particularly explained.
F ig. 1 is a perspective view of a. portion of a counter showing my price indicating device applied thereto.
Fig. 2 indicates a set of indicating tickets separated apart.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional detail through one set of tickets and its support.
Fig. 4 is a sectional detail of a fragmentary portion of the supporting frame.
In the drawings like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure. 7
1 indicates a counter, 2 indicates a series of receptacles such as trays or the like on which various commodities are placed for display. These commodities, particularly in a provision store, are arranged in rows upon the counter. 3 is a frame comprising standards t. 5 and 6 spaced at suitable distances apart and preferably intermediately of the length of the trays 2.
T is a rod pivotally connected tothe end standards 4 and 6 by a bolt 8 which is provided with a wing nut 9 by which the bolt may be tightened so as to render the joint rigid. The intermediate standard 5 is simi larly connected to :1 lug 10 depending from the rod 7 between jaws 11 formed at the up- Ro ss HAG- per end of the standard 5. 12 are cross supports provided with down-turned ends having end knobs or feet 13 adapted to rest upon the. counter. The centres of the supports 712 are each provided with a sleeve 14 formed integral therewith and through which turnably extends a reduced portion 4* of each of the standards 4, 5 and 6.
The lower end of the reduced portion 1* is provided with ahead 4 between which and the bottom of the cross support is located a compression spring 15. The lower end of the main portion of each standard 4,
5 and 6 is preferably enlarged as indicated at 16 so as to bear against the upper end of the sleeve portion lt; 17 is a recess formed in the upper end of the sleeve portion 14 into which fits a projection or'tooth 18 formed integral with the standard' t, 5 or 6.
By this means when it is desired to pack the frame for shipment or storage the support 12 may be readily turned so as to be parallel with the rod 7 and yet when in use upon the counter be securely locked in position for supporting the standards rigidly in place. 19 and 20 are price tickets each having an indicating number 21 inscribed thereon in .such a manner as toleave the upper portion of each ticket blank. In the upper end of'the blank portions of the tickets 19 and 20 are formed slots 22 and 22". 23 :is a commodityindicating ticket upon the lower end of which is inscribed the description of the goods.
at and 25 are slots formed in the upper portion of the ticket 23 and spaced apart so as to register with the slots 22 and 22 of the tickets 19 and 20. 26 is a similar slot located intermediately between the slots 24 and 25 for a purpose which will hereinafter appear.
28 are double hooks one portion of which is adapted to hook over the rod? and the other portion to extend through a pair of 19, 20 and 23 and replace any one of them by a new ticket, that is to say, ifthe price is to be changed from to allit isjnec essary to do is to Slip off the ticket 19 and replace it with a ticket having a three inscribed thereon or if the price is to be twenty cents all it is necessary to do is toslip off the ticket 520 and replace it with'a ticket'hav ing a nought inscribed thereon and if the description of the goods is to be changed all it is necessary to do is to slip off the ticket 23 and replace it with a new ticket or if both the description and price are to be changed all three tickets may be replaced bya new set. If the price of the commodity only requires one numeral to indicate it the centre slot 26 is employed as indicated at the. right hand end of Fig. l.
On this price ticket 27 the numeral 9 is indicated, the supporting hook 28 extending through the slot thereof and through the centre slot 26 of the description ticket 29.
From this description it will be seen that I have devised a very simple-device which is extremely flexible in that any price desired may be indicated or any description of goods and at the same time such a dev ce as will not be in contact with the goods dis? pensing with the usual prongs which extend from the ticket and are driven into commodities such as meat and which in con sequence become contaminated therewith and are rendered unsanitary.
By my device the price tickets are neatly held in place over each of the articlesdisplayed and may be readily adjusted to any position so as to be over the centre of such articles no matter what space they take up or how they are spaced apart.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. In a counter display price indicating ticket device, the combination with the sup price indicating ticket, and means for suspending such tickets in the aforesaid position from the supporting structure.
2. In a. counter display price indicating ticket device, the combination with the supporting structure provided with a horizontal rod extending overa series of counter displayed articles, of a price ticket having a price indicating numeral inscribed on the lower portion thereof and having a slot in; the upper end of the blank portion of the ticket, and a description ticket provided with a slot registering with the slot of the aforesaid price ticket, and a hook member engaging the rod and extending through the aforesaid aligned slots to support the tickets in a depending position over the articles displayed.
3. In a counter display price indicating ticket device, the combination with the supporting structure provided with a horizontal'rod adapted to extend over a series of counter displayed articles, a pair of price tickets each having a price indicating nu meral inscribed on the lower portion thereof and having an upper blank portion provided with slots, and a description ticket adapted to "cover such blank portions and provided with slots registering with each of the slots of the price'tickets, and hooks supported upon the supporting rod and extending through the aligned slots of the price tickets and description ticket.
