Description

Patented Oct. 23, 1923.
Iran 'rrES I rnrnn 1a. earns, or ADA, rvnnnnso're.
rniv'rs rnnssnn.
- Be it known that I, PETER J. Anens, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Ada, in the county of Norman and State of Minnesota, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Pants Pressers, of
which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a pants presser and has for its principal object to providev a simple device of the character specified whereby the trousers may be pressed while hanging in any suitable place, and wherein the trousers are kept in a creased condition and free from any dirt.
Another object of the invention is to provide a pants presser of the above mentioned character whereby the trousers which are placed in 1 the presser are. adapted to be creased and furthermore having the pants presser provided with cutout portions for receiving the cuffs of the trousers and also the seams thereof. g
A still further object of the invention is to provide a pants presser of the above mentioned character, which is simple in construction, inexpensive in its manufacture, strong and durable .c
Other objects and advantages of this invention will become apparentv during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and which like nu.-
merals designate like parts throughout the same,
Figure 1 is a front elevation showing the pants presser inits open position,
Figure 2 is a perspective view of pants presser in its closed position, and
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 1, looking in the direction of the arrows.
In the drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, the numerals l and 2 designate a pair of oppositely disposed presser boards which are formed of any suitable material desired. The presser boards 1 and 2 have their inner edges ar ranged parallel to each other and are hinged ly connected to each other by means of suit able hinge members 3. The outer edges of the presser boards 1 and 2 are tapered as indicated by the numerals 4 and 5 in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings and the purpose of having the outer edges of the presser boards tapered is to conform to the tapered shape 192a. semi No. 577,413." Y
of the trouser legs whienthe same are placed P T NT. OFF-ICE...",;. i
between the presser boards 1 and 2 for the The presser board l has its tapered outer edge 1 provided with outwardly projecting purpose of creasing and folding the same.
lugs 6 and arranged on thetapered portion 5 of the oppositely disposed presser board 2 are'strap elements 7 which are provided for a purpose of engaging the outwardly outer edge 4 of the presser board 1 whereby the presser boards 1 and 2 respectively projecting lugs '6 formed on the tapered fit upon the outwardly projecting lugs 6/ Furthermore they are of a spring like material so that theymay be easily snapped into and out of engagement with the lugs 6. Any suitable number of these latching elements may be placedalongthe tapered edges 4 and 5 of the presser boards 1 and 2 and I do not wish-to confine myself to the'number to be used for the reason that any suitable number which would readily clamp the presser boards together are sufficient for the purpose. I
The upper edges9' and :10 0f the presser boards 1 and 2 respectively are also provided with a similar locking means 6 and 7 as arranged on the tapered edges of the presser boards to further aid in holding the presser boards in a clamped position. In order that the presser boards 1 and 2 when in use may be easily suspended suitablesuspending means .11 is provided in the upper edge 9 i of the presser board 1 whereby the pants presser may be placed upon any suitable support in order that the trousers may hang in a suspended position. The presser boards 1 and 2 are provided adjacent their edges 9 and 10 with transversely arranged inwardly opening receiving portions 12 and 13 respectively. The purpose of these transverse grooves12 and 13 will be hereinafter fully described. Also provided on the inner faces of the presser boards 1 and 2 are the longitudinally extending grooves or out out por-v tions 14- and 15 respectively and these grooves 1 1 and 15 which are formed in the presser boards 1 and 2 respectively extend into the transverse grooves 12 and 13.
The purpose of the above mentioned grooves is to allow the trousers when placed between the presser boards 1 and 2 to have the cuffs thereof resting within the grooves 12 and 13 and'the seams of the trousers when folded together lying within the grooves 14 and 15 formed in the presser boards land '2 whereby the pressing of the trousers may 7 be more readily and more efliciently done.
In use, the presser boards are placed'in an open position as shown in Figure 1 and of the trousers to be pressed are adapted to rest within the groove 12 or 13 and the seams of the trousers will lie in the longitudinally extending grooves 1 1 or 15. The presser boards are then. clamped together and held'in a clamped positions by' means. of the straps 7 engaging the lugs 6 and the pants presser is then supported in any suitable placeby' means of the'suspension hook 11 and allowed to be suspended there fora suitable length of time." =After the trousers have been allowed to remain between the presser boards for a suitable length of'time the presser boards are then opened and the trousers re' moved and it will thus be seen that the trousers are in condition for wearing and a well formed crease is obtained in the trousers without the appearance of any shine or gloss thereon which Would be apparent if an iron or other heated instrument was used in pressing' the trousers.
It'will' be see fr th foregoing scription that an easyand efficient method has been obtained whereby a pair'of trousers can beeasily and'quickly creased Without the necessity of going to considerable expense and furthermore providing a device is athandat all times,
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as the preferred embodiment of the "sa"me,and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention What i I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is As a new article of manufacture, a combmed presser and casing for trouserscornprising a pair of like companion presser boards oppositely disposed arranged to receive and completely house a pair of trousers, said presser boards having their inner longitudinal edges parallel to each other and hingedly connected their outer edges being tapered toward one end, means connecting the boards together opposite to the point of their hinge connection, the meeting face of each of the presser boards having transversely disposed grooves formed therein adjacent to the mentioned end thereof fo receiving the cuffs of a pair of trousers, said presser boards having their meeting faces also provided with straight longitudinally extending grooves adjacent to their straight longitudinal edges communicating-with the transverse grooves for receiving the seams of the trousers.
In testimony whereof. I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
