IMPROVEMENT IN CORN-HUSKING IMPLEMENTS.
Specilication forming part ofLetters Patent No. 146,842, dated January 27, 1874; applicaticn filed October 11, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB F. SCHAIELTZER, of Manteno, in the county of Kankakee and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Corn-Husker, of which the following is a specification:
1n the accompanying drawing, Figures l and'2 represent, respectively, side and bottom views of my improved corn-husker.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of my invention is to furnish to farmers an improved corirliusker, which is made easily adjustable, to be used in cold weather with or without mittens or gloves, and be adapted for different sizes of hands. My invent-ion consists in making the handle-plates sliding in each other, and fastening them rigidly, by a set-screw, in the position desired to fit the hand.
In the drawing, A and B represent the plates or parts composing the Cornhusker, which are provided with curved hooks a to tit the hand,
and husking-pin b, as usual in oorn-huskers. The plates A B are made of suitable material, and arranged to slide along their straight ends,
A leather shield may be applied, in the wellknown manner to huskers, to protect the hand against the husks.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As an improvementin corn-huskers, the separate detachable plates A B, slidin g along their handle ends, and adapted to be adjusted to the hand, and clamped firmly by set-screws f, substantially as and for the purposes described.
