Description
UNITED STATES WILLIAM LOVE, OF MOOONNELLSVILLE, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN GAITE'RAS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 139,321, dated May 27, 1873; application filed April 1, 1873.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, WM. LOVE, of McGonnellsville, in the county of Morgan and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Shoe or Gaiter; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of the shoe.
Thel object of my invention is to provide a gaiter or shoe which will be easy to the foot, and at the same time avoid uneven wear upon the elastic gore inserted in the sides of it. My invention consists in making the elastic gores slightly tapering, and placing them fort ward of the projection of the anklebone on each side.
In order that those skilled in the art may make and use my invention, I shall proceed to describe the manner in which I have carried it out.
In the said drawings, A is the vamp of the shoe, and B the quarter, which are sewed to gether along the seams a b. About half-way between the seams and the line of the front of the vamp I cut out a portion of it, substantially in the shape shown, and insert an elastic gore, D, reaching about down to the bend in the crimped vamp. Then I insert the piece of leather C between the quarter and gore. By this means the elastic gore is thrown forward of the ankle-bone, and does not pressupon any prominent part of the foot, and is,`
