Be it known that l, EDWIN F. Dnrnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bakersfield, in the county of Kern and State of California, have inventednew and useful lmprovements in Check Protectors, of which the following is a specica'tion.
rfhis invention relates to check protectors, and particularly to a check protector adapted to hold ay checkbook, and from which check booka check may. be removed and perforated by suitable means, the check being perforated to prevent a raising of said check above the amount indicatedon said check. The invention 'contemplates the provision of means whereby the check protector may `be easily carried in the pocket of its user, and which incorporates a construction that is not bulky and is easy to use. i

Referring with particularity to the drawing, il designates the improved check protector in its entirety, and of which a is the casing, and 7J perforating elements for indcating various amounts. The `casing a is made in two parts, as 1 and 2, with the said parts hingedly connected together, as at 3. T he 4part 1 includes a top wall member l and a partition wall 5 held in spaced relation and respectively provided with downwardly di rected ends 6, 7, 8 and 9. Thelends G and 7 terminate in knucklesl 10 and 10a. The bottom member 2 likewise has its edges angularly directed, as shown at 11 and 12 with the part 12 provided with knuckles 13. A pin 11i extends through the knuckles 10 and 10a and 13, and holds the parts 1 and 2 in hinged relation.. The wall member lis provided with slots 15, 16, 17 and 18, the slot 17 inter-connecting the slots 15 `and 16. These slots act as guide-ways for the various perforating` elements l), which `perforating elements 7 include a head member 19 carry ing suitable indicia 20, and which head carries a shank 21 adapted to extend through vthe slots with a small washer or plate meinber 22 carried on one surface ofthe member l and a second plate member. 23 joined with said shank on the opposite side of the member 4.
