SCOTT VVELLINGuTON, OF EAST SAGINAW, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT IN BAG-FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 146,417, dated January 13, 1874; application filed December 20, 1873.
To allwhom it may concern:
Beit known that I, SCOTT WELLINGTON, of East Saginaw, in the county of Saginaw and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bag-Tie, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l is an edge View of my improved bag-tie, opened out to receive the gathered mouth of the bag. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same. Fig. 3 is an edge view of the saine drawn together as when securing a bag. Fig. 4 is a front view of the same, shown as applied to the bag.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved device for fastening the mouth of bags, sacks, &c., which shall be simple in construction, and convenient and reliable in use.
The invention consists in an improved bagtie formed of the strap, the metallic plate, the lugs, rods, and tongues, and the narrow strap, constructed and arranged to operate in connection with each other, as hereinafter fully described. l.
vA is a strap of leather or other suitable material of convenient width, and of such a length as to allow the gathered mouth of the bag to be readily passed through it. The ends of the strap A are riveted or otherwise secured to a small metallic plate, B. Upon the side, edges, and center of the middle part secured to the middle part of the strapV A.
The end parts ofthe strapF are passed through staples or other keepers, Gr, attached to the strap A, and their ends are passed through the spaces between the lugs C and rods D, as shown in Figs. l, 2, and 4. In using the tie, it is extended, as shown in Fig. 1, and is passed -over the gathered mouth ot' the bag to be fastened. The strap F is then drawn tight, and is held securely by thetongues E, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4.
Having thus described my invention, Iclailn as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- An improved bag-tie formed of the strap A, plate B, lug C, rods D,tongues E, and narrow strap F, constructed and arranged to operate in connection with each other, substantially as y herein shown and described.
