Description

G. A. BAEDER CONDIMENT HOLDER Filed July 51. 1922 GUSTAV A. BAEDER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
GONDIMENT HOLDER.
To an whom it may concern:
Be it knownthat I, Gos'rAv A. Barman, a citizen of the United States, residin at Chicago, in the county of Cook and tate 5 of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Condiment Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming 1 a part of this specification.
, My invention relates to condiment holders, and more particularly to a combined salt and pepper shaker.
It is a purpose of the invention to provide 15 a new and improved device of the above mentioned character which is an improvement over the patent granted to myself and George Lude, 918,115, patented April 13, 1909, and which is preferably made of 20 fibrous material and in halves which are se- 25 the accompanying drawings proceeds.
cured together by any suitable adhesive material.
Other objects and advantagesof the invention will appear as the description of However, I desire to have it distinctly understood that I do. not intend to limit myself to the exact details shown or described, but that I intend to include as part of my invention all such obvious changes and modifications of parts as would occur to a person skilled in this art and as would fall within the scope of the claim.
In the drawings:
Fi 1 is a side elevation of my improved condiment holder;
Fig. 2 is an inside elevation of one of the sections thereof;
Fig. 3 is a transverse vertical sectional view of the device showingthe two halves thereof separated; and
Fig. 4 is a view similar to Fig. 1 of a device of the above mentioned character hav-' ing a toothpick holding device provided thereon.
Referring in detail to the drawings, my improved condiment holder comprises the sections 5 and 5', which are preferably molded out of fibrous plastic material into the desired shape. Each of said members com rise a side wall ortion 6 that is substan ally flat and en wall portions 7 and 8 which are suitably curved, and which are Application filed July 31,
1922. Serial no. 578,701.
provided with neck portions 9 and 10 thread ed as shown at 11 and 12 for securing the caps 13 thereon, said caps being removed in Figs. 1 and 2 but shown in position in Fig. 1. Each of said members 5 and 5 is provlded with a top wall portion 14 which is curved in any suitable manner so as to give a pleasing appearance thereto, and each of thesections is also provided with a vertically extending rib portion 15 which forms a partition extending between the top wall portion 14 and the bottom wall portion 16 so as to form two chambers 17 and 18 within said device, one of said chambers be ing preferably used for salt and the other for pepper. The outer face of the wall portion 6 of the member 5 is preferably provided with a pair of fiat faces 19 and 20 upon which any suitable indicating means may be provided to indicate the nature of the contents of the compartments. Said face is also preferably provided with a flattened portion 21 upon which any suitable advertising means or other identifying means may be provided.
In the form shown in Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive the device serves merely as a condiment holder, but in the form shown in Fig. 4c the top wall portion 14; is provided with an upward extension 22 which is tubular in form, and which is threaded at 23, the partition 15 extending from the partition 2d between said tubular portion 22 and the inner hollow of the container, and the bottom 16.
Screwthreadedly mounted on the threads 23 is a cap 25 which is adapted to clamp the member 26015 elastic material between the same and the end of the tubular portion 22. Said member of elastic material is provided with an opening 27 therein into which the too-thpicks designated by the numeral 28 may be inserted. The member 26 is made of elastic material so that the same can a-ccomseparate chambers therein, threaded inclined nipples communicating therewith, perforated shaker caps threaded on said nipples, a threaded tubular member projecting up- 0 wardly. from said body rated article gripping me terial mounted thereon,
portion, a perfomber of elastic maand a flanged ring my name this 15th, day of July, A. D. 1922.
