coNrAInER.
Application filed September22, 1922. Serial No. 589,856.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RALPH W.,ZVV:ILSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and- State of New York, have lnvented a new' and useful Improvement in'Contain ers, of which the following is a specification.
" My invention relates to'that class of boxes or containers which are designed to hold a powder compact and rouge together With a puff therefor, and has for its object to provide a convenient constructlon where-v by a ready access may be-had to either the powder or .the rouge with perfect ease and yet the two will be contained n the same case although in separate compartments.
My means of accomplishing the foregoing maybe more readily understood by having reference to the accompanying drawings in which- Fig. 1 is a perspective view of my im-f proved device showing both the powder and rouge compartment open.
Fig. 2 is atop or plan view showing the rouge compartment partially open.
Fig. 3 is a top or plan view showing the rouge compartment closed.
Fig. 4: is a similar view showing the rouge compartment fully open. V Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional view through the center'of my improved vanityicase.
As shown in the drawings, my box comprises'a container 10, in which isrlocated a powder compact 11. The container 10 is closed by a lid 12 which is hinged thereto at 13. The lid 12 is hollow and has formed therein a circular depression 14 adjacent its periphery, This depression 14 may be formed by stamping the depression in the top 15 of the cover 12 orthe depression may be secured by brazing or soldering or in any suitable or desired manner.
Within this depression is mounted a rouge Normally the depression is covered by an outer cover 16 which is mounted upon the box cover 12, its periphery being turned over as at 17 to form means 11:01 holding the cover on the box cover but at the same time to permitof its rotation which merely illustrates a an aperture 18 which corresponds to the size of the depression 14. A vertical cylindrical wall of the box'cover 12 is adapted to telescope the upper part of the container 10 and abuts against the shoulder 20 formed thereon. A. suitable powder puif 21 is mounted andrests upon the powder compact 11 being located between the top of the powder compact 11 and the mirror 22 forming the bottom of the box cover 12.
The rouge compact is preferably fastened in V V the depression'lli; o that a Will remain in position when the operator is makinguse of the mirror to apply the rouge. It may be desirable in some instances to 'be' made without departing from the scope of my invention and I do not desire to be limited to the. specific. structure shown preferred embodiment of my invention.
Having described my invention what I. regard as new and desire to obtain by Letters Patent is: i
change the location of the rouge container 1. The combination with apowder container,.a cover hinged to said powder cons tainer, a rouge container ofsmaller size than the powder container mounted in said cover, an outer coverfor said container cover rotatably, secured to said cover, there being an aperture therein corresponding to the size of the rouge container.
2. The combination with a powder container,"a cover hin-ged to said ,powder con tamer, a rouge container. of smaller size than the powder contamer'mounted in said cover, an outer cover for said container cover rotatablysecured to said cover, there being an aperture therein corresponding to the= .size of the rouge container, a mirror in said container cover, a powder pufi', inv 7 said powder container intermediate the powder and the mirror, and a powder puff located in the rouge container.
In testimony whereof I have signed the foregoing specification. f
