Description

G. W. RICHTER MACHINE FOR WORKING SKINS, HIDES, AND LEATHER 7 July 17, 1923.

GEORG WALTER RICHTER, OF CRIMMITSCHAU, GERMANY.
MACHINE FOR WORKING SKINS, HIDES, AND LEATHER.
Application filed March 19, 1915. Serial No. 15,992.
(GRANTED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE ACT OF MARCH 3, 1921, 41 STAT. L., 1313.)
rollers in the position at the first stage of the working period, and
Fig. 3 illustrates the second stage of a working period.
Fig. 4 shows the devices shown in Figs. 1 to 3 included in an organized machine.
The hide a-b to be treated is inserted into the machine by the attendant in the position shown in Fig. 1 whilst the second (right hand side) tool cylinder 2 is still working on the end 6 of the previously treated hide. The eccentric (indicated in Fig. 1 in dash lines) is operated by a pedal lever (not shown on the drawing) as soon as the working of the preceding hide is finished, whereby the outer transporting; roller 5 is oscillated toward the first tool cylinder 1 against which the new hide a.?) is thus pressed so that it can be worked upon by said tool cylinder, being fed by the feeding cylinder 3. The transporting roller 6 is also oscillated to the left so that it catches the free upper end of the hide, the part of the hide from c to 5 being supported by the two transporting rollers 5, 6. The transporting roller 6 is then oscillated to the right (position shown in Fig. 3) so that the part of the skin from 0 to Z) is worked upon by the tool cylinder 2 revolving in opposite direction as tool cylinder 1, this part of the hide being moved in the opposite direction as the part from c to a worked upon by the tool cylinder 1. The end a of the tool slips off the transporting roller 5 as soon as the tool cylinder 1 has finished its work so that the hide hangs in the position shown in Fig. 1, a new hide being new inserted between the transporting roller 5 which has been moved away from the tool cylinder 1 and the tool cylinder 2.
Claim:
An improved machine for working skins, hides and leather comprising in combination with two stationary tool cylinders arranged at a convenient distance apart, means for revolving said two tool cylinders in opposite directions, a stationary feeding roller T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Gnone WALTER BioH'rn-R, subject of the German Emperor, residing at Orlmmitschau, Saxony, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Imrovements in Machines for Working Skins, lides, and Leather, of which the follow ing is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a machine for working skins, hides and leather which comprises two stationary tool cylinders arranged at a convenient distance apart and adapted to be revolved in opposite directions, two stationary feeding rollers, one for each tool cylinder and further two transporting rollers designed to transport the hide from the one tool cylinder to the others. The oscillatory transporting rollers are arranged in such a manner that at the first stage of a working period they are both swung toward the first tool cylinder so that the skin or hide is pressed against this tool cylinder to be treated by the same. At the second stage of the working period the outer transporting roller is oscillated with the part of the hide which it supports towards the second tool cylinder and at the third stage of the working period the inner transporting roller is oscillated fromv the first tool cylinder towards the second tool cylinder so that the hide is entirely removed from the first tool cylinder, the treatment being finished by the second tool cylinder, a new hide being inserted in the meantime in the machine.
Owing to this arran ement the efliciency of the machine is consi erably increased.
An embodiment of the invention is shown by way of example on the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Fig. 1 shows the tool cylinders, feeding rollers and transporting rollers in the position at the third stage of the working period, a new hide having been inserted for the new working period.
Fig. 2 shows the tool cylinders and the memes for each tool cylinder, two transporting third stage the inner transporting rollerrollers designed to transport the hide from is moved away from the first tool cylinder the one tool cylinder to the other and means to take the hide away from the same.
for moving said transporting rollers so that In testimony whereof I affix my signature 5 atlthe1 firsthstage both approach the filrst tolol in the presence of two witnesses.
