Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MOSES NELSON, OF EATON, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN SASHePULLEYS.l
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 146,197, dated January 6. 1874; application filed December l, 1873. j
Y to project each side ont of the slot formed in the case for it, and a little beyond the sides of the-stile, to carry the sash-cord free of it, all
as hereinafter described.
Figure 1 is a top `View of a portion of a window-.x-framc and a sash, showing my improved sash and pulley, and the application of it. Fig. 2 is a section taken on the line ma of Fig. l, and Fig. 3 is a section of Fig. 2 on the line y y.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A and B represent the two parts of the case, which are made of cast metal, of cylindrical exterior form, considerably longer than the diameter of the wheel B', but much narrower, and are shaped on the faces which t together to interlock by notches in one and projections on the other. They are also formed on said faces to make a long slot, C; for the wheel, and have a hole at the center for-the `journals I) of the wheel.` The case is designed to be a little larger in diameter than the thickness of the window-stile E, so that the tool by which the hole is bored inthe end of the stile for it will cut through each side and slot the stile,
for letting the wheel, which is wider than the case, project each side to carry the sash-cord free of the sides of the stile. In case the stile is too thick, the slots may be formed by other means. The top of the 4pulley is designed to be let into the cap of the window; frame as much as the stile is to be firmly secured in its place thereby.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pat-` ent- The slotted two-part case A-B, cylindrical in form, to be attached to the stile by being inserted in a hole bored in the end thereof, and inclosing an enlarged wheel of such relative diameter as to allow the sash-cord to project free from each side of the stile, all sub-` stantially as specified.
MOSES NELSON.
