IMPROVEMENT IN GAlTER-B-OTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 145,801, dated December 23, 1873; application filed November 19, 1873.
To all whom ,it may concern:
Be it known that I, CALVIN HERSOME, of Boston, county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Gaiter-Boots, of which the following is a speci cation This invention relates to the gaiter-boot for which Letters Patent were issued to me, dated November 19, 1872, numbered 113,225, a1- though, as will be obvious from the description hereinafter given, it is applicable to other gaiter-boots similarly adapted to open and close about the ankle. The invention consists in the arrangement of a loop upon the back flap of the gaiter-boot.
In the accompanying plate of drawings my improvement is Shown as applied to a gaiter boot of the construction described in the said Letters Patent and in the plate.
Figure V1 is a side view, and Fig. 2 a rear view.
A in the drawings represents the gaiterboot; B, the ilap surrounding the back of the ankle, and C, the fastening-strap, which, to fasten the boot, passes around the back flap B,
from one to the other side of the boot, and is secured in a buckle, D; E, a loop fastened to the back flap in a line corresponding with that of the fastening-strap C. This loop is made by stitching a leather strap, a, to the back flap, and the loop opens toward each side of the boot, so that the strap C can be passed through it in being placed around the back of the boot. The loop E holds the fastening-strap, prevents the back llap from working' either downward or upward, and thereby obviates the slipping of the heel.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat= ent, is-
The loop E, in combination with the fastening-strap C of a gaiter-boot, all substantially as and for the purpose described.
