A pair of -fore-legs 1 1, 14, isprovided-and bolted at 15 beneath the fore-ends of the foot- rests 10,10, (Figs. 1,2 and V5 tofsupport the heavy fore part of the device on the floor, the rear end of thefdevice being secured by means of theordinai v {hangerhooks 16 that engage'notches or recesses 17 made in the ,plates 1-7 secured to therearwall 18 of the room.

To the ,lftiOf theseat and the footbasin 'L mvide a contiguous washstand having a pair of side- walls 23 and 24, a fore-wall 25, a basin or bowl 26, and a raised slab-support 27, the latter containing the usual hot-and-cold faucet-combination 28. This washstand is preferably made integral with the bath-chair, but it can, of course, be made separate therefrom, and suitably attached in place, or it may be dispensed with altogether, if need be or advisable, and the bath-chair made with its side- walls 22 and 24 both alike, as shown in the modified form, Fig. 6. The said modified form is especially adapted to spaces or rooms of very limited dimensions, where the double combination of bath-chair and washstand could not enter or be accommodated. It is also more economical to make, care for and supply or install. It has holes 13 in its left foot-rest 10 for the accommodation of the hot and cold faucet combination (not shown) that is thus in direct local arrangement or touch with the foot-basin and not materially hindering the use of the said left foot-rest by the leather. I

The washstand basin or bowl 26 is provided with a drain 29 at its rear end and, at the upper edge of its side-wall 20 that unites with the side-wall 24.- of the contiguous bath-chair, it has a deep notch 30 to allow for any overflow from the said basin or bowl 26 into the foot-basin 9. Said overflow-notch 30 is plainly shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 5, and it is desired, so that a running flow of clean water in the basin or bowl 26 can be constantly maintained during the bathing operation in the footbasin 9, which is an important feature of my invention herein.

In using the device, the'water to bathe with is taken or dipped from the washstand basin or bowl 26, using a heavy sponge, washrag, or the like in doing so, or an ordinary portable spray, (not shown) that is attached to the faucet-combination 28, may be used. Said basin 26 is elevated a sufficient distance above the level of the main seat 6 to bring the water within easy reach of the bather, and the side-wall 2a serves as a water-shed for the left side of the footbasin and its foot-rest. The elevated and connected back and sides of the bath-chair provide water-sheds to protect the walls of the room, as well as the floor thereof.

The usual plugs (not shown) may be provided for the drain-openings to hold the water in the several basins of the device to desired levels. r 1

When the washstand is to be used ordinarily, for hands and face, without using the bath-chair, the person approaches from either the front end thereof, or the side to the left thereof, the latter preferably because he can get nearer the faucetcombination 28 and he, also, has the greater length of the basin 26 than that of its width to accommodate his hands and arms in their movements for cleansing.

When the complete fixture is placed in position the washstand will. be just the right standard height above the floor to form a first-class washstand of itself, while the adjoining attached foot-basin will be low enough to permit the bather to conveniently enter or leave the bath-chair without risk of slipping or falling.

I claim:

1. In combination, in a device of the character described, a bath-chair section and a laterally-disposed elongated integral washstand-section, the said bath-chair section comprising a horizontal transverse body-portion or bathing-seat vproper, a foot-basin arranged forward of said bathing-seat proper and having a f'ore guard-wall, footrests at the opposite side-ends of the foot-basin, elevated back and side walls for the said bathing-seat proper and foot-basin, respectively, and said laterally-disposedelongated washstand-section extending integrally from i one end of saidbathing-seat proper and its fore foot-basin, means for independently supplying water to the washstand and footbasin and likewise draining it therefrom, means for supporting the combined duplex bath chair and washstand, and overflowmeans from the washstand into the footbasin and thence into the drain-pipe, substantially as shown and described.

2. A combined or duplex bath-chair and washstand fixture comprising in said bathchair section a rear horizontal seat for the bather, a foot-basin arranged forward of and lower than said seat and having an elevated fore guard-wall at about the same level as that of said seat, horizontal footplates at the opposite side-ends of the footbasin but at a lower level than that of the seat and fore guard-wall, overflow and waste openings in said foot-basin, a rear guard-wall for said sea-t, elevated continuous side-walls for said seat and foot-basin, and, also, comprising in said washstand-section an elongated washstand-proper that extends integrallyv and laterally from one combined side-guard of the said seat and foot-basin and is provided with an overflow-notch in said side-guard portion of the foot-basin, a. drain-orifice in the washstand bowl, watersupply faucets forthe washstand bowl and its overflow-notch, and supports for the combined or integral duplex-fixture, substantially as shown and described.

In a device of the character described, a bath-chair comprising a horizontal bodybasin arranged at the front of the said seatproper for the bather and below its upper level, a fore guard-wall provided for the said foot-basin and arranged at approximately the same level as that of the upper face of the seat-proper, horizontal side-plates f0rming foot-rests at the opposite ends of the foot-basin and arranged at a level below that of said upper face of the seat-proper, a
