and constructed in a manner to provide a head rest and seat with a connecting inclined back, supporting portion whereby a person may assume? an inclined restful position within the tub and be prevented from sliding downwardly into the tub when unattended and thereby eliminate the possibility of accidental drowning.

A further object of the invention is to provide a bath tub of the foregoing character wherein the compartment or area defined by the head and back rest portior as one or more transversely slidable drawers mounted therein and opening at each side of, the bath tub whereby the latter may have either side thereof in contact with a bath room wall or be positioned in spaced relation to the wall and permit access to the sliding drawers.

It is a further object of the invention to construct a bath tub having the water supply faucets either located withinthe tub and supported upon an end wall thereof or carried by a bracket plate secured to an end wall of the tub with the water supply faucet located in a plane above the tub and to thereby permit the end wall of the tub supporting the water faucets to form unobstructed foot rests or'abutments.

With the above and other objects in view that will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combinationand arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and claimed.

Figure 8 is a perspective view of the water supply faucet supporting bracket plate shown in Figures 6 and 7.

The bath tub may be constructed in any material desired, preferably of rectangular form and comprises side walls 10, end walls 11 and 12 and a bottom 13. As shown in Figures 1 to 3, the end wall 11 supports upon the inner side thereof at a point spaced from the upper edge of the tub, the usual water supply faucets 14,

'while the bottom 13 of the tub adjacent the end wall 11 is provided with the usual drain 15 and overflow 15a.

A raised platform 16 is located at the end of the tub adjacent the end wall 12 and a recessed or socketed head rest 17 is arranged centrally of the raised platform 16. A forwardly declined back rest or support 18 extends forwardly from the forward edge of the raised platform 16 and terminates substantially midway the length of the tub as illustrated in Figures 1 and 3. At the base or lower end of the inclined back rest 18', there is provided a seat support or rest 19 comprising a pair of socket or recess portions sep-, arated by an intermediate pommel 20 to prevent accidental slipping or sliding downwardly of a person resting in the seat 19.

The compartment 21 formed by the raised platform 16 and inclined back rest 18 therebeneath is provided with drawer guides 22 in which a pair of transversely slidable drawers 23 are mounted and open at each side 10 of the bath tub as illustrated in Figure 4. With a drawer arrangement of this character, the tub may be supported in contact with a wall at either side with the drawers exposed for use, or the bath tub may be located centrally of a room with the drawers slidable outwardly thereof at either side.

In the form of invention illustrated in Fi ures 6 to 8, the water supply faucets 1411 are supported'exteriorly of and above the bath tub by meansof the bracket plates 24 having open- 100 ings 25 therein to facilitate passage of the fastening devices 26 for attaching the bracket plates 24 to the end wall 11 of the bath tub exteriorly thereof. The water faucets 14a are carried by the upper end of the bracket plates 105 24 and are located exteriorly of the bath tub and above the same as illustrated in Figure 6. It is to be understood that the interior construction of the bath tub shown in Figures 6 and '7 is identical with the disclosure in Figures 1 to 5.

From the above detailed description of the invention, it is believed that the construction and use of the being noted that the head rest 17 and seat rest 19 are connected by an inclined back rest or support 18 so that a person lying upon the back rest 18 and seated upon'the support 19 with the head resting in the portion 17 willbe prevented from downwardly into the bath tub. A

principal feature of the present invention is the combination of the head rest 17 and seat rest 19 with the connecting inclined back rest or bath tub will at once be apparent, it

from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

I claim:

In a bath tub construction, perpendicular side and end walls, a raised platform at one end of the tub and adjacent the upper edge thereof, a

head supporting recess formed centrally of the raised platform with the recess extending into the forward edge of the platform, a forwardly declined back rest extending from the forward edge of the platform and of reduced Width at the intermediate and bottom portions providing arm relaxation areas at each side thereof, the bottom portion of the back rest terminating substantially midway the ends of the tub, and a seat rest at the bottom portion, the head rest, back support and seat rest to be so related as to elevation and angularity to provide restful contact with corresponding parts of the body of a person reclining in the tub.
