ROBERT M. BOWMAN AND WILLIAM H. BOWMAN, OF LONDON, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN CORN-DROPPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 145,552., dated December 1G, 1873; application filed July 26, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ROBERT M. BOWMAN and WILLIAM H. BowMAN, of London, in the county of Madison and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Corn-Dropper, of which the following is a specification Our invention consists of a hopper-bottom having the hole for dropping the grain into it, with a supplementary slide for closing the hole arranged on its under side, said bottom being arranged to slide forward and back to bring the hole under the grain in the hopper, and
then move it beyond the cut-off to the place of delivery, and at the same time dpenthe hole by carrying the supplementary slide against a stop, which holds it against moving with the hopper-bottom as soon as the hole has passed beyond the cut-olf, while the bottom continues as far as the width ot' the hole, and then goes back for another charge, the supplementary slide being closed during the back movement by a spring. The arrangement is designed to prevent the choking and clogging common to most droppers in use.

It will be seen that there is little or no chance for the hole to clog with the grain, and in case it does the grain in the pocket will be carried forward and backward with the slide, but cannot stop it.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The slide-bottom A, having the drop-hole O, combined in a corn-dropper with the auxiliary spring-slide F, the two arranged to operate together in the manner and for the purpose described.
