MOP HOLDER.

Be it known that I, JOHN MIKENAS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Amsterdam, county of Amsterdam, and State of "New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mop Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in holders for the cloths or rags of mops, particularly to a mop-headprovided with novel and improved means for holding the cloths or the like.

It is the principal object of my invention 1 to provide amop head which allows a ready and convenient attachment of the exchangeable mop rags to the head by means of a clamp, which is extremely simple and inexpensive, in such a manner that no part of the mop head or clamp can touch'the floor and damage the same.

Another object of the invention is the provision oil a mop the handle of which is adapted to readily operate and lock the clamp after the insertion of the clothin such a manner that a smooth mopping face is resented to a floor.-

The mop-head comprises a wooden base block 10 provided with longitudinally GX- tending substantially V-shaped grooves 11,

11 in its front and rear edges, in the bot- I toms of which we find the ends of cross bores 12 extending through the block 10 which are bored through the block so as to form inclined guide holes for the lateral bars 13 and 14 of a wire frame including longitudinal bars 15 and 16 connecting the free end of bars 13 and 14 in such a manner that bar 15 is adapted to rest in the bottom of one V-shaped groove 11, while bar 16 projects above the upper edge of block in Figure 1.

The device operates as follows: If a mop-cloth 36 is to besecured to the head, the handle 31 is, removed and the parts are brought by the suitable operation of loop 30 into the position illustrated in Figure 3, the mop cloth36 isth'en laid upon the bottom face'of block 10 and its endsare guided in the manner illustratedin Figure 1 over the bars 15 andQO. The loo-p 30 is then moved in the opposite'direction, which operation will move frame 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17,18, 19, 20 respectively, so that the bars l 15 and 20 respectively will clamp the cloth '36 between the bottom of grooves 11, 11' g and bars 15 and 20 respectively.
