To all whom it my concern:

Be it known that I, ROBERT LEE RoNEr,

a citizen of the United States, and a resident of East Orange,'county of Essex, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clips for Fastening Wire Fence Fabrics toPosts, Etc, of which the" followingjs 31 specification.

My improvements relate to means for securing woven wire structures, rods or other fence fabrications, to supporting posts; and are designed to afiord a s1mple,-cheap, but eifective grippin device wh ch may be facilely and expe ltiously utilized for such purpose, without the aid of tools or appliances especially devised and constructed for use in conjunction therewith.

To this end the invention comprises, essentially, a metallic. cli formed of a blank consistin of a single piece of wire of suitable' lengt strength, and pliability, but of suficient tenacity to maintain the. shape into which it may be forcibly bent,said. blank being doubled upon itself, and-being clasp or hook-shaped at the bight extremity, thus formed, the other ends of the extremity being adapted to be forcibly bent over to constltute parallel cl nch hooks, substantially in the manner and for the purpose hereinafter fully setforth In the accompanying drawings,

By preference, the bight end 0, is bent over to form the clasp or hook h, a.nd the free ends 0 c constitute the clinch K, to

be forced over in parallel hook shape around the edge 12, of the post P, into tight contactual engagement therewith. Obviously,

however, the alternative form and arrangement of parts shown in Fig. 11, may be resorted to with like result,-the bight end 0', of the clip being adapted for use as the clinch K, and the freeends c 0 being formed into the hookh, so that I do not wish to limit myself to either configuration of clip in this respect;

Where the component part of the fence fabric to be attached to the post P, consists of a horizontal wire 10, as in Fig. 7, I prefer to use th straddle configuration of clip C,

Where the wire to, of the, fence fabric to be secured extends vertically and in alignment, with the post P, as in the otherfigures of the drawing, the straddle 0", is not of importance, and may b omitted. It is to be understood that by the term wire fabric as herein used I mean toinclude any form of wire to be supported by my clip; and that the term post includesan support for the wire and clip.

clip C, hus formed with parallel open clinc hooks atone extremity, in conjunction with the closed bight hook at the other extremity thereof, may he detachably' secured to the edges of a post, in that either extremit of the clip may be readily re-bent over or ack'to open the clinch suficiently to admit of removal from the post, so that the said clip U, is susceptible of transfer and re-use, and need not. be discarded in the; event of the removal of the original. wire neonate fence fahric for replacement, repair, or otherwise. In other words, it is not necessary to distort either extremity of 'my clip 0, during application, so that its removal and re-use is a simple matter.

What ll claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. As an improved article of manufacture, the clip described composed of a one-piece metallic wire blank doubled upon itself adjacent the center of its length, the bight thus formed constituting a hook, and the wire having its free ends bent at an angle to their length to form independent hooks, said firstnamed hook and the last-named hooks being engageable with opposite side edges of a post, with the intermediate portions engaging a wire held against the flat face of the post.

2. As an article of manufacture, a clip of the character designated, consisting of a onepiece blank of wire doubled upon itself and crossed to form a medial straddle portion, the clip being hook-shaped at one extremity and the other xtremitybeing adapted to form a clinch, substantially in the manner,
