Description

Apr. 17, 1923. 9 1,452,415 F. A. CMEJLA CURTAIN STRETCHER Filed 001:. 9, 1920' Patented Apr. 17, 1923.
UNITED STATES FERDINAND A. CMEJ'LA, O F MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
CURTAIN STRETC HER.
Application filed October 9, 1920. Serial No. 415,853.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FERDINAND A. CMEJLA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of WVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain Stretchers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a stretcher for curtains or other fabrics and has for its'obj ect to provide an adjustable fabric stretcher adapted to stretch fabrics of various dimensions.
Another object of the invention is to provide a fabric stretcher and shaper having means for holding the fabric without perforating the same.
A still further object of the invention is to provide in a curtain stretcher a double clamp for detachably engaging the fabric and detachably engaging the stretcher rods. lVith the above and such o-therobjects in view I have invented the device illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Fig. 1 is a fragmentary view of a curtain stretcher constructed in accordance wit my invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1 showing the hook enlarged. Like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the specification and in the several views in the drawing in which the letter B indicates the horizontal rod while the letter C indicates the vertical bar adjustably associated with the horizontal bar.
ring clamps 48 that encircle the bars thereby allowing the clamp members to beadjustable on the bars. Each clamp member is provided with a pair of material clamps 49. The clamps are formed from two pieces of spring wire 50 and 51 held together by a collar 52 at the juncture of the clamp arms 53 and 54.. The ring. sections 55 forming other.
In a stretcher frame of the character above described any desired number of eurtains or other material being stretched may be laid one upon the other, clamped in the frame and stretched in one operation. Also, various sizes and shapes of material may be stretched. In this device there are no pins or points to mar the material, or injure the 'fingers of the operator.- The material may be easily stretched in proper shape withouttearing or injuring the same, .as the clamps do not perforate the material, and the material may be readily adapted before tightening the rods in their stretched positions. The members may be readily separated and thereforerequire a small storage space.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
