UNITED STATES HERMANN' CONRAD, OF lNEU'STADT, HAARDT, GERMANY.
PLAN SIFTING MACHINE.
Applicationfiled Ilovember 16, 1921. Serial No. 515,727.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMANN CONRAD, a citizen of the German Republic, and residing at Neustadt, Haardt, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plan sifting Machines, of which the following is a specification- This invention relates to an improved freely oscillating plan sifting machine having two superposed sieve-boxes and a driving-disc arranged horizontally between the latter, and its novelty consists in connecting said driving-disc by means of crank-pins to said sieve-boxes and balancing it around its oscillatory centre, that is the gravity centre of the whole driving-disc, behind centre lying exactly in the middle between said crank-pins, one of said crank-pins lying in the central axis of said driving-disc and the other at 180 thereto relatively to said oscillatory centre. I
The accompanying drawing shows the improvement Figs. 1 and 2 are respectively a side View and a front View of the plan sifting inachine,
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the same,
Fig. 4- is a vertical section through the driving-disc mechanism,
Fig. 5 is a plan View of the driving-disc.
The freely oscillating plan sifting ma chine, Without a separate fiy-weight, comprises two sieve-boxes c and d suspended above one another from pendulums a and Z) in such a manner that the upper sieve-box c suspended from the pendulums a can osci1- late between the pendulums Z) of the lower sieve-box d, the two sieve-boxes being in communication with one another through flexible tubes.
A crank-disc f arranged horizontally between said sieve-boxes and forming at the same time a driving-pulley, efiects the oscil' lation of said sieve-boxes by the attachment of its loose crank-pins it, i to the centre of the bottom of the upper sieve-box and to the centre of the top of the lower sieve-box respectively, one of said crank-pins lying in the central axis of said crank-disc and the other at thereto relatively to the oscillatory centre 70, the crank-disc being balanced or eccentrically weighted around said oscillatory centre and capable of being driven by means of a belt a guided over rollers m which are mounted in brackets Z suspended from the upper sieve-box 0.
The'particular advantage of the improvement lies in the fact that, while omitting a separate flyvveight used with the hitherto known plan siftingmachines and necessitating a specially strong frame, the oscillation of'the sieve-boxes is attained in a reliable manner and in a uniform way simply by means of a crank-disc arranged between said sieve-boxes and the crank-pins of which are attached to the latter, whereby the utility of the machine is increased, its construction is simplified, and costs are saved.
l/Vhat I claim, is
In a plan sifting machine, in combination, two oscillatory sieve-boxes, a belt-driven crank-disc horizontally arranged between the latter and balanced around its oscillatory centre, and crank-pins on said crankdisc attached to said sieve-boxes, one of said crank-pins lying in the central axis of said crank-disc and the other at 180 thereto relatively to said oscillatory centre, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. HERMANN CONRAD.
