IMPROVEMENT IN MUCILAGECUPS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent N o. l 45,] 55, dated December 2, 1873; application tiled July 10, loS.

To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, J. E. CROSBY, of NenT York, in the county of New York and'State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mncilage-Oups; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, that will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters ot' reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

In the drawings, Figure l represents a vertical central section of a mucilage-pot, provided with my improvement. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same.

This invention has relation to mucilage-pots; and consists in the combinatiomwith a grooved and notched mouth, of a removable wire-brush cleaner, having' lateral projections to iit said groove, substantially as hereinafter described.

1n order to enable others skilled to construct and apply my invention, I will proceed to describe the same in detail.

Referring` to the accompanying drawings,in which said invention is clearly illustrated,A designates a mucilage-pot, made of any suitable material and in any desirable shape.

I form an annular iiange or ledge with a circular groove, b, in its inner surface, to receive the supporting-arms b of the brushcleaner E. The latter consists of a thin metallic ring, F, made, preferably, from very tine Wire, or its equivalent, and provided with any required number of Vexterior radial projections or arms, b', to support it in position. The ring F is, as shown in the drawing, of considerably less diameter than the tlange C, so as to prevent the mucilage, drained from the made to first coincide with the notches. The

arms to be arranged in the groove are dropped into the notches, and the ring turned a short distance to the right or left. G designates a liange, encircling the neck or mouth of the nnicilage-pot, and designed to admit of the use of a suitable cap or cover, as well as to prevent any mucilage which may drop from the brush upon the lian ge O from flowing over the sides of the pot.

It is manifest that by the use of the ring the brush is el'lectually deprived of all superiuous mncilage, and the latter, failing to find a surface to which it can adhere, will drop back into the pot, thus keeping the mouth of the latter neat and clean. By slight modifi4 cation the ring maybe made attachable to mucilage-pots of the ordinary form.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The ring F, having the arms b', incombination with the' mucilage-pot having the grooved and notched ilange C, substantially as des scribed.
