A fourth important object of the invention is to provide an improved tie clamp which, when used with an old and wrinkled tie, will smooth the wrinkles out thereby adding life to the tie. I j

A fifth important object of the invention is to provide an improved tie clamp which will add to the appearance of the tie.

A sixth importantobject of the invention is to provide an improved tie clamp which will save time for the user by making it unnecessary for him to tie and untie the tie each time it is put on and taken off, one tying when first worn being all that is needed.

With the above and other objects in View, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described,

In all of themodifications of the device thereis provided a memberhav'ing a'tubular body 10 having a flared lower end 11. In

the front of this member. there is provided a longitudinal slot 12 extending downward from the top of the member and having its edges rounded at their upper corners to provide a flaring mouth 13. On opposite sides of this slot the tubular member is provided with elongated openings 14: which are of sufiicient width to cause the tubular member to have distinct shoulders 15 above and below said openings so that when a tie is wrapped around the member it will not slide out of the tie.

In use one portion of the tie extends through the tubular member and in each form means is provided by which the tie is releasably. held from sliding through said tubular member and in the form shown in Figures 2 and 3 this means takes the form of a tapered plug16 which is loosely connected to the tubular member by a chain 17 so that the plug may be inserted inthe lower end of the member 10 and jam the tie.

In the form shown inFigures 4: and 5 a set-screw 18 is provided for'this purpose.

In the form shown in Figures 6 and 7 one side of the member 10 is pressed inwards as at 19 to provide an inclined surface 20. Adjacent this surface is a pair of inclined slots 21 wherein moves a bar 22 passing through the member 10 and provided with heads 23. In thisform the tie is jammed or clamped between the bar 22 and surface 20.

In the form shown in Figures 8 and 9 the member 10 is provided with a slot 24 through which passes one end of a bentlever 25' no I In operation the smaller end of the tie is run downward through the member 10 and the tie placed on the neck; The tie is then tied with the usual four-in-hand knot, care being taken that the first turn engages between the shoulders 15. The tie may'now be tightened on the collar by sliding the y,

smaller end through the member 10 after which it is clamped by the jamming or clamping member. To remove, the tie the wearer loosens the clamping member. after which the small end of the tie will readily slip sufiiciently ttar through the member 10 I to permit removal of the tie over the head.

In the form shown in Figures 10 and 11 the device is made from a single piece of metal with a closed upper end. Also the openings 1.4. are closed at the extreme upper portion and are of such a character that the shoulders 15 are not present, their places being taken by the porches or horns 27 formed by the upper and lower portions of metal around said openings 14. In this form there is also provided an opening 28 for the attachment of a chain as inthe form shown in Figures 2 and 3, this opening making it unnecemary to provide a special eye on the side of the tube 10 forsuch chain.

There has thus been provided a simple and eflicient device of the kind described and for the purposes specified.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is

1. In a necktie clamp, a tubular member through which one end of a tie may be passed and having shoulders between which the other end of said tie may be wrapped, and a clamping member arranged to clamp the tie in said tubular member.

2. In a necktie clamp, a tubular member having a flaring lower end and a pair of op positely disposed openings of suflicient size to provide shoulders at the top and bottom of the member whereby to form a reduced central portion, and a clamping member operable within the tube to engage and hold a tie end extending through the tubular member.
